    You obviously know nothing about the difference between a "coder" and a "software engineer".


    Yes I'm serious - and I'm both a Mechanical Engineer and Software Engineer. The actual time "coding" is almost the smallest part of a well designed project. You need engineers to take care of the rest that if(5!=duh) doesn't really do well.

    Most intelligent people support the Palestinians, it's only in Israel and in the US you all of a sudden become accused of being nazi, anti-semite or arab-lover because you dislike nations invading and occupying other nations.


    George Bush and Ariel Sharon are a lot bigger threats to world peace than Saddam Hussein and bin Laden.

    Maybe in the US - but in a lot of countries the Xbox is 1.5-3 times cheaper than an equivalent PC depending on what parts of a PC are the most interesting for your needs.

    It's coming - it's done the same way as the Odin project on OS/2. Patch the binary from xbe to exe, and wrap the kernel-calls to native. No emulation.

    Microsoft has publically stated they're not sure they'll see profit in 10 years. Anyone claiming the Xbox will earn money soonish better have some good sources - because I can back up that they won't.

    The Xbox is absolutely not profitable, where have you gotten such a lie from?


    (Microsoft doesn't have control over the costs in the Xbox in the same way as Sony has on the PS2 or Nintendo on the Gamecube. Intel and NVidia, together with Philips/Thomson and Seagate/Quantum has their words in this too .. )

    NTSC-Gamecubes (USA, Japan) have "both BIOSes" on them - and you switch between them with a jumper. PAL-Gamecubes (Australia, Europe) have only the PAL-Bios, and there's no way to switch to another. Thus there's a big incentive to create an import mod - but so far no one has managed to. It's also not possible to run "backups" on the cube, no one has managed to solve that either.


    Please mod parent down for being uninformed.


    (The grandparent is however correct, the cube is VERY VERY tough to hack. Don't expect a modchip, expect a very expensive extra unit holding games on harddrive or DVD).

    Flextronics usually helps customers with a LOT more than just "use a different screw-size" ;) They (we - actually - Flex just bought the company I work for) can re-design whole circuit boards and use ASICs instead to drive the cost down.
