I don't think the GP said he wanted to kill anyone. I'm not sure - are you arguing that the GP should be locked up? And you kind of changed your tune, from a stance of absolute safety to a stance of reasonable or expected safety. The latter is realistic, the former ridiculous - which is probably why you abandoned it so quickly.
The first and second amendments are the most important rights. Period.
Right as in rights, not right as in right wing. Calm the fuck down, I like the 2nd ammendment. Your position on the ACLU, on the other hand, is illogical and indefensible. See my previous post, the message which seems to have slipped right by your little noggin.
From what you've written above, I probably agree with you on the continuing erosion of rights and the abuses of the government. However, what you don't seem to get is that if you disbanded the ACLU tomorrow, no one would replace their fight for 1st ammendment liberties, and the 2nd ammendment would not be affected in the slightest, good or bad.
I can't believe you can't see this, but based on the other shit you've written here, I'm not totally suprised. You don't seem to be the sharpest crayon in the henhouse.
They fight hard, long, and frequently alone for the 1st ammendment. They speak out mildly (barely at all, imo) against the 2nd. What is the balance of their actions in support of liberty about which you care about? Care to add these two up? Any sane person can see that the balance is very strongly in favor of the right which you hold dear. But your interpretation of that balance is "you hate the ACLU". Wait, here is your exact quote:
"They're in the bathroom, wiping themselves with the second amendment while pretending to care about the rest of 'em."
Do they actively fight the 2nd ammendment? Do the take cases against it? Do they fund those who fight the 2nd ammendment? If not, that's pretty neutral in my book. No, all they do is choose not to fight the 2nd ammendment, and a bunch of pansies hold that against them. I'm all for the 2nd ammendment, but they ACLU's position on it does not justify the crap in this thread.
The rights the do fight for, e.g. most of the other amendments, and the dedication they have to those rights while "red-blooded" americans all over would rather trade freedom for security or for homogenity, that's what makes the ACLU an important group. They fight for the freedoms when no one else will.
My YMCA doesn't actively support the 2nd ammendment either, only a gun nut would hold that against them.
(note that most of JS' features are in some way stolen from other languages)
Wow, that's too bad. Hopefully those other languages can have the police help them get the features back. Or maybe these languages can get replacement features from their insurance company while they wait for the trial? I know that I won't use those other languages until Javascript gives them those features back, so this is truly a tragic day for all those other languages. I speak from personal experience here, when a language steals features from you, you really feel violated and vulnerable. You want to lash out and kill those other languages. Cool heads should prevail though: with proper rehabilitation, Javascript can be made to stop its theiving ways and become an upstanding, productive member of the language society.
No, not really, but I do tend to get a little tired when six of my eight available channels at the same time show
american series of, should we say "less than desirable quality".
Maybe you should get a Tivo or MythTV? That helps us deal with the crap television over here.
PS. I would hate to think people living in other american countries would think that I refer to them in my sweeping generalizations. DS.
And, why do you instantly take USA:ian as being a derogative term? That is (honestly) not my intention.
As you should be aware, the term "Americans" really usually refers to USA inhabitants. There is no continent called "America". It could be used for inhabitants of the two continents as a whole, but that usage is rare or non-existent. "North American", "Central American", "Latin American", and "South American" are all used to indicate persons from the continents or sub-continents. For other countries, "Canadian", "Mexican", etc, are used as indicated elsewhere.
I personally don't take your pet term "USA:ian" to be derogatory. I just think it's stupid on a couple counts: 1 - it's not even a proper word. 2 - it smacks of typical geek arrogance - the idea that the English language should be logical and further that you, as some kind of crusader, can change the language through your stubborn and lone persistence. You're probably one of those guys that thinks he can supplant the work "boxes" with "boxen", too.
You make it sound like you have no choice but to watch these TV shows. I can just picture you: strapped to your chair, eyelids taped open, attendant applying synthetic tears as hour after hour of cagney+lacy and CSI are shoved down your eyeballs. Is that about how it happens?
PS. the accepted term for inhabitants of the US is "Americans", not "USA:ian". Your repetitive use of that term makes you look like a buffoon. Welcome to the wonderful world of human language where everything doesn't work exactly like you want it to. Will you be staying with us long?
I think the case is rarely as distinct as you make it out to be. Most of the time: if cops use illegal means to obtain evidence against someone; can you really trust the cops to not plant evidence since they can't follow the rules? The other part of it is that the rights violated by the misconduct of the cops (e.g. search and seizure, privacy, self-incrimination, counsel, etc) are more important to the principals of liberty than the occasional failure to punish a known criminal.
I love your unabashed and stubborn ignorance in this thread. This statement:
And yet C++ comes out as neither.
is of course untrue. But hey, keep whacking at the C++ windmill; your comments are saying more about you than they are about C++ or any other language. Thanks for the continued entertainment.
Yes, we all know about that Vienna. Do try to keep up with the entire thread, genius.
Can one be only 50% dead on?
I've heard your sentiments expressed here countless times.

The idea of the review is to determine if classified information is revealed by the article. Presumably, in this case it is. Or maybe not.

And who can? You when you are cooking? When you are driving?
The brain? The heart? Surely you're not talking about testicles or the penis.
Right here, from your previous post, smart guy:

Hugs and Kisses, scotch
That makes you an idiot in my book.
Add to your list: - SOX compliance / legal issues

Not true - no last bidgit, bitch.

Last non-zero digit is 1 -- in base pi.
Do you have any evidence that it tends to be a good indicator?
What's the "fair market value" of the land that you can't build on?
