I can't believe someone would be ignorant/arrogant enough to actually name one person as the inventor of the internet. You could ask a middle schooler in the US who invented the internet and they'd say it was a cooperative effort between many organizations and people. And don't even get me started on what Al Gore would say lol.
He invented the address system and a linking and browsing system. Yup that's the entire internet alright. You don't need cables or network hardware or servers or anything!

I was at someone's apartment yesterday that's pretty much on the edge of an almost 100,000 person city and they can't get anything but dialup there. They can't even get cable, they have to have a dish. I was actually considering moving in there cuz it was really nice and the price was right but then I heard that and was like forget it. It's not even close to a rural area either. It's like half a mile from one of the biggest malls around here. If the stupid cable and phone companies would just spend some money and lay down some fiber or at least copper, it wouldn't be so bad. When 99% of people with dialup are pissed, that's a pretty good business opportunity for broadband here.

I'm one and that's definitely true. That kind of stuff was great 10 years ago but now with super complicated programs, having to type everything with no assistance in a text editor would probably kill me lol. Typing every single little command perfectly with no errors is pretty much impossible. When was the last time you even saw a professional site NOT have a javascript error when it's done loading? I can't even live without intellisense in VS lol

By using robots and scientists and stuff to mess with the processes and trying to determine which ones should mate and forcing them find each other based on our judgement, instead of letting them do it on their own, can't end well.

technically this article is exaggerated though. Yeah "it" as a technology doesn't work but you can still very easily watch TV on your vista PC. There are working video capture cards with live view and external computer oriented tuner boxes for like $40 that still work with a remote. It just send out as composite (that lovely yellow cable with the giant pin) and usually 1/8 inch audio that can go in the line in. Also I'm not terribly familiar with cable card technology but I bet some regular old PCI tuners still work. if my Avermedia Pro 007 doesn't I will NEVER upgrade to Vista cuz that's why I bought a 2nd monitor.
