Thing this will follow the form of BTX formfactor?
I know in the summary it says to be compatible with as much hardware as it can - so I sure hope that includes the Case.
The only way it will catch on is if it will fit in the current cases.
With all the overclocking and heating and whatnot, we defiently do want faster and cooler hardware, so hopefully this will catch on.
To me, DRM resembles the Justice system. It initially started out with good intent - I.E protect the artists (ok ok.. so the label company) to make sure they get their money.
However, they kept adding and adding more crap to it, that now all it does is harm the innocent and "protect" the guilty.
Any "criminal" can easily still get the songs illegally and hassle free.
However the innocent who go out and buy the CD has major compatiblity issues to deal with, rootkits (as in Sonys case), and whatever other crap the record labels decide to infest the CD with.
All they are accomplishing is wasting more of their money for R&D and implementing DRM then they save.
Pirates will never be stopped. The only people they stop are the complete ammatures who might try to copy their friends cd, but you dont need full blown DRM for that, just implement basic copy protection.
This is actually a pretty good idea. IF all of the filesharing networks, (so along with torrent spy, filelist, etc), along with people who run IRC server all combined funds. It could then purchase the island and never have to worry.
Although I don't see it happening anytime soon.
All those people who are denied a PS3 (because of shortages) buy a PS2 and games for that because they know they can move up to a PS3 when they become more available. In the meantime Sony makes money and denies a potential convert to another platform.
This is exactly what happened to me. I never had a PS2, so I was going to grab a PS3 then but ps2 games until march when all of the good PS3 games start being released.
However, after noting how much the PS3 was going to cost as well as the very limited supply, I ended up buying a brand new PS2 for $120, and a bunch of used games for $20 (CAD) and am having a blast with the cheap gaming. Once I am done with the PS2, I will pick up a Wii and play that.. then in a year or 2 once the PS3 prices drop a bit, ill eventually grab one of those
This is exactly the same with vehicles. Back in the day they had nice steel or rubber bumpers, so when you hit something (at a relatively low speed) you would just keep going because there would be no damage. Todays cars, you tap something and your plastic bumper is completly busted.
Manufacturers want to keep building disposible products.
This also reminds me of when my father would sell Silos. Farmers would be ticked cause it would cost so much ($20k+ for a new one) but then they also last for 30+ years with minimal maintence. He would then state, well how many cellphones and vehicles have you went threw in that time?
since IBM is making all the chips, they should use all the information they gained from R&D and develop their own console...
Although I guess they would have to deal with all the lawsuits

Red Rover, Red Rover, Let Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter Come Over
So microsoft is trying to stop their own OS from being installed? Or is that not what they meant by craplet? Oh wait...
Wow, how fascinating. Who would of thought new games will change PC Gaming.
