DNA is a program. It is a program that has features (and bugs) that vary in different regions. These features cluster together, and those larger clusters we call "race".
You've already failed to demonstrate intelligence in your first paragraph. Definitions of race have next to nothing to do with "clustering" of genetics. As a very applicable example, Africa has extremely high genetic diversity compared to other human populations.

Is there a gene for intelligence? I don't know. But it's beyond ludicrous to suggest that a gene for intelligence has anything to do with the genes for skin color. Any attempt to justify your brand of racism through genetics has fallen flat on its face.

I'm not asking for a plot summary. But explaining the genre is an even lazier form of review. Especially since your audience is probably already familiar with the general conventions of various sci-fi sub-genres and perhaps even the previous works of the specific author. If someone has read even one previous Culture book, they would get absolutely no new information from reading your so-called review.

Its not enough to say you don't think its his best, you're supposed to tell WHY you think it wasn't his best! Was it not as creative? Were the characters unbelievable? Was the plot well paced? Was there not enough action? Too much action? It wouldn't even kill you to quote some passages that support your opinion.

I'm offering some criticism so you can write better reviews in the future and you accuse me of being grouchy, dismiss my complaints and tell me to take your word for it. Typical blogger hack.

Cities like New York, Singapore and Tokyo are not self-sufficient by a long shot. People can only live in at those densities by drawing on resources from a much much larger area. You will never find an area the size of Texas with all the resources that you need. At the very least you'll need to grow crops in different areas and you'll need people there to work those farms and more people to provide infrastructure to the farmers and probably someone to put the crops in cans and trucks to moves those cans and... now you're back to where we started with people spread out all over the world.

Plus your numbers would require that we all go vegan. Good luck with that one.

Historically, sort of. In theory, the nobility in many European countries were responsible for "maintaining the order" and so were the only ones that could own weapons. Diversity is good. - Marriage will be almost non-existent Good riddance. - The military will be a small shadow of its former self Also good riddance. - Government will be "responsible" for all the care-and-feeding of the large majority of the population, Seriously, you already pay farmers NOT to grow food, why not pay them to grow the food then give it away? "Luxury" food items will still be available for those who want them. Housing projects have a bad reputation, but there's no fundamental reason why cheap, commodity housing couldn't be made available. Habitat for Humanity has a really good program for building affordable home and setting people up with fair mortgages. I see no reason why programs like that couldn't be extended. If you add in the delta V from whatever event caused it to leave the surface of said body, then its velocity = V(initial) + dV will result in an orbit farther from the sun. You have to do some clever orbital mechanics to send probes to Venus and Mercury.
