I doubt the SCADA apps are *controlling* the robots, standard practice is to have the PLC control the equipment. If you are writing control logic into your SCADA app you probably should find a new line of work.
I used to hold this same belief until I watched that "Collateral Murder" video. Your AR is no match for a helicopter you can not hear which fires 30mm HE rounds.
If a SHTF-us-against-them situation actually occurs there will be lots of bodies, on both sides. Our only advantages are knowledge of the local land and the ability to blend in with the non-aggressors as I doubt even in a SHTF scenario troops will not be killing everyone. The government will still need slav^H^H^H^Hcitizens.
Please note the phrase "significant portion". I classify 39% as a significant portion. According to Grigg, ~25% answered the question in the affirmative. Another significant portion.
Furthermore, the survey was supposedly administered in 1994. I am going to go out on a limb and state that the numbers have likely changed, and not for the better.
I would put money that a significant portion of combat troops would have no problem killing American civilians. There was supposedly a survey given to combat Marines back in '94 which had some interesting results. I have not been able to find a good source for the document so google "question 46" and decide for yourself.
The actual role of a peace officer is mainly the collection of folks that owe, or people who the peace officer deems as such, the state monies. So they would show up after you have been killed, your wife raped, children murdered and shit stolen take a few pictures, ask a few questions, chat about the game this weekend, fill out some papers and hang out until the funeral home comes to pick your unprepared ass up.
Sadly, most Americans have been conditioned to believe that the hospital is the only place to deliver a child and only OB-Gyns are capable of doing so.
But then again, how would women get all the narcotics, epidural anesthesia, or schedule their induction/Cesarean at home?;)
Sorry pal, but the TSA didn't exist prior to November of 2001. If what you are saying holds any truth, that would have been a private security preson contracted by the airport / airline(s).
There is literally no point, whatsoever, to using a debit card. Unless, I suppose, you lack discipline, and well in that case you've got bigger problems.
My credit union gives me a dime each time I use my debit card.
Not to burst your bubble but you make a poor point. All of those things you mentioned require an education of some sort to do at a professional level.
What point would that be? Are you claiming you need a college education to pull wire or run pipe? Basic mathematics knowledge, literacy, vocational training and a decent attitude are all you need to perform any of those jobs at a professional level. All of which can be reasonably obtained within twelve years of public education. Sadly, the vocational training portion has been removed from public education in my area.
What you meant to say is that we need people to clean hotel rooms, flip burgers, mow lawns, and pick up the garbage.
Actually I did say that very thing.
Hell, we even need unskilled labor.
To summarize (since you didn't seem to bother reading my entire post), the public would be better served by providing vocational training in middle/high school rather than wasting students time and tax payer dollars attempting to mold someone into college material who doesn't want any part of it.
I know it's hard to swallow, but not every kid is capable of being an astronaut, physicist, doctor or even in middle management.
You pointed out a very large problem with the public education system.
I don't think paying low income children to do well in school is going to turn them into college graduates.
There is an expectation that every child has the potential and desire to college. This is simply not the case.
Even if everyone had all the tools to obtain a college degree, where would that put us? We need auto mechanics, plumbers, electricians, carpenters, etc., etc. Hell, we even need unskilled labor. I can't speak for the rest of the country but in central Texas many schools have discontinued shop classes and converted the shops into classrooms.
The result of this is that an average high school graduate in my area will be thrust into the community very few usable skills. Sure, they may be able to diagram the hell out of a sentence, rattle off a few poems, tell you the atomic weight of sodium or solve a proof but hand them a saw and a two-by-four and ask them to cut a piece forty-eight and five sixteenths inches.
If the goal is to have everyone "college educated" why not just extend the current system by 4 years?
Hazelnut latte? No wonder the USA is in trouble! Not only are the people fat, but they don't know about real coffee anymore!
Bah! I spent six months in Oz trying to find a proper cup of coffee. The closest thing I could find was a double espresso with some water added. They called it a "long black" or some shit.:P

Tim?? Is that you?????
Mr. "Please refer to Tech Note #234." ????
The funny thing is that I work with a lot of GE products.
Sorry to hear that, if I ever catch up to you in the field I will pick up your bar tab.

I have always wondered why all those rooms had squeaky doors...

Well, actually the "services" you describe are not likely to be realized anyway. Especially since it is known that the police have no duty to provide you any protection.

What is shocking is that most OBs don't know it.
It's not that they don't know, it's more likely most don't give a damn.
And don't blindly trust the doctors.
Fantastic advice, OBs often capitalize on the stressful situation and play the "dead baby card" quite often to do things their way.
Hey man, seriously... There is a place for every animal.
Right between the mashed potatoes and green beans!!
I'll do something about it tomorrow, American Idol is on tonight...
Project much?
Fact is, a gun is designed for one purpose only; the expulsion of a projectile from its muzzle.
What function it serves and the direction of its muzzle is a decision made by the operator.
Behold the power of the corporate media.

I, for one, welcome our new Tazer wielding overlords.
Oh wait, nevermind...

Meh, had to add some text for the filter.
There you are, I wanted that slashdot nick.
Yeah, me either...
One of the strategies of someone who is about to lose an argument is to avoid the real issue by attacking the presenter on unrelated issues.
Now, how about addressing some of the AC's points.
