The broader challenge since this confronts Western Coâ(TM)s To is governance. Reason SO-X , Federal sentencing guidelines etc.. to put more pressure on leaders to have a system to Deter and detect improprieties. Interesting revelations going on with Nissan ( governance). Toshiba showed much worse governance. At least Nissan did not inflate profits. Tepco down played tsunami warnings coz of greed.... to name a few. Enron.

  4. Biking danger risk on Even More Americans Have Stopped Biking To Work (usatoday.com) · · Score: 1

Biking can be very efficient for moderate distances if bike paths most of the way. A decent shoulder usually ok but bad drivers abundant. Pedestrians have right away on sidewalks. I used to bike but after several incidents and to many close calls decided bike travel needs caution which Means long distances at speed increases risk. Since trucks deliver the stuff we need roads are primarily for autos. Support bikes but aware of limits to roads.

Rephrasing: Modern encoding Lossy 256kb+ Typically sounds comparable to lossless especially as quality of playback system lower. Cars , moderate mobile DAP/Headphones lossy vs lossless probably can not hear a difference especially for casual listening. Higher end playback which often is not practical for mobile, for very focused listening, then might for the very good listeners desire a lossless playback just in case in high quality recordings a few passages with complex low/mid/highs. No need to do go thru effort to double blind, can compare side by side easily and decide how you invest your time/money. Good luck with your audio journey.

  8. This was a bizarre legal action that deserves scrutiny. The West should be setting an example for legal due process. An arrest warrant should have been presented using diplomatic channels since obvious there would be collateral damage to citizens of Canada and US. Outrageous. West does not condone incarceration of its citizens under similar circumstances.

Trump swooped in as a change of guard felt worth a risk by many and others apathetic soured they all suck. Careful what you wish for coz unintended consequences. One of numerous speculations. This is Government at work part of the process. For propaganda Congress could offer to match Mexicoâ(TM)s contributions toward a wall ;) though for a win Make it a firewall instead.

Wreck less people ruin it for the considerate. Where stairs are an option fine hog the escalator. But Most people can stand to the right and let those in a hurry move faster. The point should be made if you have luggage use left side, no passing. Otherwise if space permits stand to the left. There are times where folks with luggage need to use right side since crowded in which case tough luck for those who want to go fast. Likewise for less mobile people old / handicap , babies etc have right to stay on right. Able body people should be considerate and step to the left to allow those non right to pass. This will continue with a few jerks making life difficult unnecessarily for others.

Next auto record dash cams to show WTF the driver was doing. He could have had a heart attack or something. I am impressed by the Tesla auto pilot. There needs to be more smart cars recording driver alertness. Hope Insurance companies help push these safety measures.

Apple recycle reuse and repair programs in many countries designate a service provider such as Brightstar to collect and resell. Apples trade in program in various countries will direct web traffic To Brightstar, there are others. Presumably companies like Brightstar follows Apples rules but independent outfits harder to control. Apple desires to maintain a high customer satisfaction level and wants to deter shady business using roque parts etc.. Kind of heavy handed Amazon banning the independents vs labeling more clearly Non-Authorized. Apple also outsourced repairs and to help maintain quality sites availability they restrict over saturation by independents by limiting access to parts. This is not unique to Apple many companies do it. Good luck servicing your J Deere tractor etc... there are trade offs with either approach A) restrict more consistent quality B) Open cheaper but wide range of quality. If Apple allows independents to apply and qualify by meeting standards, vs their repair approach which does limit of supply, then Would support Amazon - Apple arrangement. Much like Uber you can be a driver if you meet quality of service and compliance requirements. Not a medallion scarcity type model.

  24. Train gurus on Making Trains Run on Time (economist.com) · · Score: 1

Lived in Japan. Odakyu line at Shinjuku busiest station exits one side , enter opposite. Practical for peak capacity times and more timely departures larger implications. Low traffic times during the day allow for more time unloading and loading. Other lines try to alternate right and left every few stations. Many non hub stations only have space for one platform. When they back up the stations are slow to react but they do try to warn passengers to go another route with online notices , displays at stations etc... As Olympics approaches more stations installing platform guard doors that offer a buffer before the train doors. Helps prevent crowds from overflowing on to tracks but also late boarders trying to zip in and getting stuck holding up trains. These are very costly additions but over time save time and money increasing safety. Light traffic stations do not warrant the cost benefit but heavy stations do.
