  1. expected on Linux goes to Hollywood · · Score: 0

this was very much expected. considering that the majority of the CG portions of the entertainment industry write a good half (if not more) of the software they use, what else would be a better OS?

  2. i dont give a $hit... on Letting The Market Choose Decent Broadband · · Score: -1, Offtopic

i really dont care what happens in DSL land any more, im tired of trying to keep up... however, if i were to loose my pipe, i'll be pissed!

  3. you know.... on Virus Scares and False Authority Syndrome · · Score: 0

beyond just computer virii, this makes me wonder what really can be trusted comming from anyone with some knowledge on a subject that i have little or none.

i know that many of the people that post on /. like the think that they are a god send to the computer industry and know more then anyone else (as i do myself sometimes), but that dosent mean you know all about the weather, now i know why the forcast is always wrong! ;^)

  4. bah on Another Audio Watermark Scheme Wins TI DSP Contest · · Score: 0

all this encrypted audio formatting and what not has me wondering if it will ever make it into free compression solutions i.e. ogg vorbis?

  5. I say spread em on Fight Virus With Virus? · · Score: 1

who really cares? i mean, if people keep producing virii/worms and others are make ones that fight them then the this is bound to be a big mess.

and if it takes a big mess for people to a) get a clue and b) fix their fscking security problems, then maybe this wouldent be such a big problem ever.

sometimes the best way to take care of a fire is to let it burn its self out.

  6. really? on Myth II and Railroad Tycoon II For Linux · · Score: 1

These people really kick a$$, wish everyone would do this kind of stuff.

Hey, i know, how about port tribes =)

  7. Re:What this really shows... on Mindcraft Study Validated · · Score: 1

Nt can be administered from another windows based box. i.e. 95/98, but even more so with NT workstation. this is done using client admin. tools. but when it all comes down to adminstration easily from just about any platform that has telnet =) linux does beat it there.

  8. v3 on 3Dfx seeking Linux developer · · Score: 1

wow, thats kewl, maybe the 3d for the v3 will be supported soon, that way i dont have to pay an outragious price for a tnt2 to play q3a.

  9. Nothing psoitive anymore on Killer Asteroid · · Score: 1

All this talk about civilation killers the past few years has been really negitive. Sometimes I really believe that if you dont think about it, its really not a threat.

Personally, Id like to see something more positive for my future, not this constant talk about how "We are not going to make it" it really does get old to me.

  10. Why Linux is bad for a serious C/C++ developer on Linux on CNN Tonight · · Score: 1

Umm.. .your one to talk, if you dont like it, code for GCC.. try and remember ITS FREE!!! and its only as good as you make it!
I really cant stand people that knock free software thats really kick a**.

  11. Xfiles huh? on Practical Nanotech · · Score: 1

Wow, glad to know im not the only one that cought that episode of X-files.

Scary huh? Wonder if it could ever really go that far. Also I saw something on the discovery channel about alias existance, they discussed a little about nano-tech, or beings that could reproduce them selvs that were "non-carnbon bassed" i.e. made by humans, or silicon based.

  12. Sweet. on Dell Officially Supporting Linux? · · Score: 1

A move like this could get other companies to do the same, if Dell pulls this off, it would really make a impact on linux in the server side environment in major businesses.

Really nice too see someone comming to their sences. =)

  13. well... what can i say on The Music Industry and the MP3 · · Score: 1

  14. humm on Win32-OS/2 source to be released · · Score: 1

Personally, i think wine does more then you think. I would perfer that i dident have to run ANY M$ apps in linux, but since M$ has their hands on sooo many things it makes it hard. I do have a windows partition and i do use it. but not often. Windows so far has their hands in the gaming and office market. and believe it or not, where i go to school they accept homework via mail, the catch.. it has to be in office97 format .doc. This is where wine comes in, if it can get rid of the need to use windows all together, then sure i'll run M$ programs under linux, at least till my school starts using word perfect format, or all games get ported to linux.

  15. Freshmeat on A Bit About Freshmeat · · Score: 1

OK. This guy does not deserve this s**t. I think what he did with the page is nicer and faster from my end. Im sure anyone that works to create something for free for the community does not deserve to get knocked for it. If people work hard to give you something for free and you dont like, simple answer, dont use it. But it is compleatly wrong for anyone to give s**t for it. I think others will agree as well.
