I get your point, but why reduce the current (welcome) level of transparency when we don't really have to?
People like me have no problem burning a few mod points to whack those sick/stupid posts down to -1, and at least we know that (hopefully) some valid posts are not getting "shadow banned" due to someone's personal agenda.
I've personally modded back up some -1 posts that were certainly controversial, but yet interesting and not "wrong".

TLDR; /. mod system is far from perfect, but it works better than most others...

Show just a complex topic this is, I guess, and that coordinated action is required at a truly global level if we are to effectively tackle climate change.
However, given our recent track-record on that, and tackling other man-made disasters like war, I'm not holding my breath.

(Fun fact: Apple's market cap is the same as the entire Russian market...)

Before they set up their own subsidiary, Apple products were purchased overseas and "greyed" into Russia by enterprising individuals, so if Apple's subsidiary gets shut down, presumably that would re-start, so Apple wins anyway...

Since everyone else has given a stout "fuck off" to Apple, and their own vehicle development program is in the tank, then this leaves this unlikely alliance of the "weak", (note: both companies have enormous capabilities & resources, and lots of cash).

However, both companies also have strong, and strongly-different, cultures, big egos in management and complex behind-the-scenes politics; this won't go anywhere....
