Depends on who you ask. Those whom get there main income from Big Pharma will say eggs are bad. Others seem to be saying they are good. Still others are saying they are bad unless the are free range organic.
I say they are good! I just had three & they tasted delicious! They just happened to be organic as my wife bought them. Personally I would balk at the price & buy the factory eggs. But that makes her unhappy so I opt for the expensive ones. Happy wife=happy me.
I've done the same thing to Comcast/Uverse/WideOpenWest lots of times for the last ten years. They never take me seriously until I call for the disconnect! TOO LATE! The new service is installed. Damn I am happy to have three providers!
It seems that most are missing the point here. It's not just student loans, it's GI Bill money & other grants going to waste on bullshit colleges/trade schools. The potential student is sucked in by the intense marketing (ITT Tech & be a GAME DESIGNER!!) & goes to see the sales person...(counselor) & they hard sell them on some useless program & set up all the financing for them. Just sign here...!!!! RTFA
Quite often jobs listings actually specify bachelors degree from an accredited college. Phoenix University degrees SUCK! A waste of all our money, not just student loans.
Don't get me wrong, I hate the MAFIAA as much as the next guy, but people seem to forget about following the money.
Music is one beast that can thrive from independant distribution and marketing. It's relatively cheap to build your own recording studio and make a name for yourself on facebook.
Movies on the other hand, do take years and millions to make. The money comes up-front from a studio and the studio hopes (expects?) to make money off of ticket sales, merchandise, DVD/Blu-Ray, etc... Yes, there are independant film makers out there, but without those box-office sales, we wouldn't have Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy, or a slew of the other CGI-dependant movies with big-name actors/actresses.
Would anybody mind sharing how we can get to this eutopian world where every multi-billion dollar produced movie can be made free to the unwashed masses?
It's not like a movie can tour the countryside and get money from concert sales...
Make a kick-ass movie, I will likely buy a ticket. Make a decent movie, one that I really want to see but not at current ticket prices, I will wait for it a while. But not forever. If it does not show up on Netflix I might rent it, burn it, then watch it at my convenience, then toss the disk. If I really want to see it & missed it at the flicks due to time constraints, I will download it. If the entertainment industry wants me to pay, make it convenient, let me watch it how & when I want to, & keep the price point reasonable. $6.99 for On Demand is too much as I can rent it for less. They can make money this way, but they might have to let go of their old business models.
from what i understand of the definition of "customer", a "customer" means "someone who is paying for a service". here, there's no payment involved, therefore there is no contract of sale. i would imagine that it's fairly safe to say that we're most definitely *not* quotes customers of google quotes.
if on the other hand these individuals are actually _paying_ google for service and are not receiving a response, _then_ i could understand.
Google Play Music. $9.99 a month. I'm sure some people, including Germans, pay for it.
2 million+ years of eating animal products & suddenly it's bad for us. As bad a tobacco!
You are lumping all animal products with factory produced food. Organic, grass fed, wild meats/fats are not at all the same thing.
Actually I do go to work... just not working from home after hours/weekends in the summer. Little to no gaming. Believe it or not, I actually go outside. And do stuff.
I use it much the same as the Android tablet I used to use. The keyboard helps also but is certainly not the reason I like it so much. It's FAST! That is why I love it. No more tap tap tap fuckmeyoupieceofshitadroidLOAD! Plus I don't have to be forced into using bullshit mobile sites that are difficult to deal with & have no option to "view full site". IMO most apps (iOS/Android) are useless, the full web site is usually much better. The Surface Pro also runs my employer's Cisco VPN client, useful for logging directly on to my machine at work when some light stuff needs to be done.
Just wanna say, I love my Surface Pro. Cost me $450 about a year ago & bought a keyboard through Amazon for $45. Rarely do I even bother to turn on my desktop as it's really only useful for gaming & work which I do very little of in the summer. Windows 8.1? What is all the fuss about it? I boot to my desktop & it works pretty much like Windows 7. What is with all the hate?
Legal or not, abortions will always happen. Making it illegal would likely cause the abortion rate to rise. Plus make it less expensive. Maybe preventing unwanted pregnancies would be the best way to avoid abortions.
OK will do! Stay far away that is. Yep, I work with people like you. Likely start late, long lunch, then wonder usually quite loudly, why others want to leave on time. I start quite early, get things done before the interruptions start. Leaving on time is my goal. You want me to work late, pay me. I'm sick of unpaid OT. It never got me anywhere.
Are not a lot of these people the same people that helped pass the Patriot Act? So now they are attempting to de-fund the Patriot Act?
Did we not debate this right here on slashdot way back when that the Patriot Act would unleash all this surveillance? Why not just pass the Patriot Act II & make it illegal again? Better yet, how about a vote to repeal the Patriot Act?
In a not so contrived example: my current employer is a manufacturing company. For us, wages matter little to none when it comes to automation. It's all in the volume of the product. If & when volume hits a certain number, we automate. Automation is a major capital investment that always saves money over time, if there is the volume. Manual lines can't keep up anyhow. Our manufacturing plants (located in NC, TEX, & CA) pay much higher than minimum wage & provide a nice benefit package.
What business hires employees they don't need? If you lay people off because the minimum wage is raised, who takes over the work those people did? You can spread around some of it to other employees but that only goes so far. Every single place I've ever worked at had just enough or usually less than enough people to do what needed to be done. Productivity has never been higher in the U.S.
OK so some businesses will not be able to either give up some profit or raise prices to accommodate the higher wages... they go belly up. But then whatever services they provided will be unavailable & someone will jump in & fill that gap. It's hard to believe the claims of job losses tied to the minimum wage.
Why did I still wait if my CPU is "plenty fast" enough? My dream is to some day work on a machine that waits for my input rather than me always waiting for it. This means faster everything, including the CPU.
In my experience, 24 is the peak & it's downhill from there. However, for the talented, it's a very slow decline. Back in my Quake, then Quake 2 gaming days doing league play & setting up matches, it seemed to me that the 20-22 year old players ruled. I was 38 at the time. I could compete with them until we got into the top 10 teams. Then I just set up the matches & coached haha. Quake 3 was the end of it for me really, but then I got sucked into MMOs by my wife & lost what little skills I had left.
Ahh but my Sony Blueray player will be fine (theoretically) off my router. That being said, I've been Chromecasting Netflix off my tablet at my girlfriend's place... hmmmm...
Well I would mod you up if I wasn't already posting on this. I can't wait to get home to try this. If I can get one of my various routers working on the Uvile gateway (shouldn't be an issue), this just might work! Thanks!
So Netflix ponies up the money & Comcrap is able to provide no-stutter streaming. It appears to be true. At my girlfriend's place (Comcrap) we couldn't watch Netflix but now it runs fine. At my house (Uverse... Uvile?) we could watch Netflix but now, as in the last two nights, it stutters & is unwatchable. Purely anecdotal but yea, they both suck. Maybe I change providers again... back to Wide Open West!!
I was skimming through some blogs the other day & realized I hadn't actually read any of them. No great loss, they were just blog posts. Another thing I've noticed is my book consumption appears to be lower than it was once. No I did not rtfa but I did carefully read the summary, carefully. It took direct effort to do it. All said & done, I am still reading complete books & now I am planning to make more of on effort to take more time to read.
Rural Electrification Act of 1935 brought electricity to rural U.S. In 1949 we extended the act to allow loans to telephone companies wishing to extend their connections to unconnected rural areas. Why can't we apply the same concept to broadband?

If a state wants to actually help their local retail businesses, then they should eliminate sales tax.

Agreed but for me it is a fairly recent thing. Only for the last year or so. That's after years of 60 plus a week. No more.
