...and temporally dithering an 8 bit display to 10 bits would result in a similar amount of extra colours, and we're back to the 98% discrepancy. Simply, 6-bit dithering displays are inferior in every respect, from colour representation to viewing angles. This is a very bad move for Apples premium image.
In a similar vein, I was running a Geforce 2 era card on my secondary system until a few weeks back, happily playing older titles like FFXI and Rome Total War. I recently spent $110AU on a 512mb 7600 card that's probably the equivalent of a dual SLI 6600 series, which would have cost ridiculous sums when it just first came out. A hundred buck card on my old 1.8Ghz P4 system works fine for anything but the most recent titles.
I guess the reviewer is either utterly clueless, born yesterday or a cunning black propaganda operative in the covert Console vs. PC war. Reading these comments, I can only conclude the latter.
I was under the assumption that the VeRO program allowed companies direct access, as discussed here a little while ago. There's a paper about it here which quotes:
Once membership has attached, VeRO members have available to them the VeRO Reporting Tool, which is software designed to automate the process of alleging infringements to eBay. Upon receipt of a NOCI, eBay removes the allegedly infringing listing apparently with little or no review of the validity of the complaint. and a little later:
One person claimed to use VeRO to remove over 500 listings in a day. My question I guess is this - how much oversight is actually there between the automated filing of a NOCI and the takedown, or is this also automated?
Surely you meant Leviticus 19:18 "Thou shalt not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the children of thy people, but thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself: I am the LORD." Whether Moses borrowed from Buddha or the other way round is pointless speculation. Common themes extend across all moral codes mostly due to common sense.
Mercury facing the Sun Nitpick, it's locked into a 3:2 rotation. Here's the relevant wikithingy
Until radar observations in 1965 proved otherwise, it was thought that Mercury was tidally locked with the Sun. Instead, it turned out that Mercury has a 3:2 spin-orbit resonance, rotating three times for every two revolutions around the Sun; the eccentricity of Mercury's orbit makes this resonance stable. The original reason astronomers thought it was tidally locked was because whenever Mercury was best placed for observation, it was always at the same point in its 3:2 resonance, so showing the same face, which would be also the case if it were totally locked.
You missed the bit where it was kiddie porn, so everyone can scream 'think of the children!' while they run around in circles arresting the true menace to our children, hyperlink clickers. I wonder how long it will take them to start raiding the sites where the ads show up. Guilty by vague association and all that.
Remember the Axis of Evil? Well one of them we got medieval on (pity they're better at medieval warfare than us, but anyway...), one of them got nukes and one didn't. Guess which one we're planning to go medieval on next?
but still, it would be cool to glace at the power of God. I think I've seen that when I saw a puppy being born. Looking at its little head coming out of that bitches bloody pussy I saw a miracle in action. And not one of those crappy everyday miracles like a sunrise either.
Yeah, collecting DNA from innocent people is far more scary and insane than nuking millions of innocent people. I sympathise with you, but I do find the whole notion of nuking things you don't like the most abhorrent, disrespectful and just plain retarded concepts I've come across.
I did find the bit about hermiting into a hole with a big gun to escape insanity quite hilarious though.
You mean that pact between the USA, Canada and most of Europe? I really don't see your point - NATO is not a coherent unified military force, it is a treaty.
Agreed. Learning asm first on the 6502 then moving to the 68000 was great, but then moving to x86 was horrific. The entire Intel engineering staff should have been drawn and quartered for the literally thousands of headache inducing design decisions made.
It's great that not only are drug dealers and criminals lumped in the same basket, but that they are his exclusive targets. He's not Judge Dredd you know. One day he'll hit the wrong person who will report it to the cops, and I gather they're rarely fond of vigilantes.
Additionally, if both countries agree on the crime extradition is sometimes an option. The more cooperative the governments the more likely this will happen. Australia is cooperative with most western governments. I just hope the parliament comes to its senses.
It happens all the time when what is widely seen as a corrupt government is voted out and replaced by another. ...who then renege on all their promises and further the corruption to their own ends.
Typically, Jedi are given (training) lightsabers on the first day of training. Jedi Masters emphasize that the lightsaber is a measure of progress for an apprentice because lightsaber techniques take great skill and concentration. To construct his own lightsaber is considered the final test for a Jedi padawan before his Jedi Trials. The construction traditionally takes place in a cave on Ilum, though other circumstances may prevent this, and lightsabers can be crafted anywhere as long as the proper tools and components are present. Some Jedi claim to fall into a meditative trance, where their vision helps determine what the results of their construction are. Others simply follow a more ceremonial approach that fully emphasizes the individual's completeness. Corran Horn described several changes within himself as he crafted his lightsaber, coming to terms with his past, his present, and his future.

They confirmed first that the overall effect of these new generation of antidepressants was below the recommended criteria for clinical significance. Then they showed that there was virtually no difference in the improvement scores for drug and placebo in patients with moderate depression and only a small and clinically insignificant difference among patients with very severe depression. The difference in improvement between the antidepressant and placebo reached clinical significance, however, in patients with initial HRSD scores of more than 28--that is, in the most severely depressed patients. That's above 28 on a scale of 30, meaning the headline is accurate for all but the most extreme severe cases. The rest of what you say is accurate, yet it seems we are treating the vast majority with an ineffective class of drugs.

It's the beak gradient they're after, which goes from watery ramen to al dente Singaporean noodle.

So, you're saying the War on Drugs is failing?

What's with the humourless mods? At least it wasn't a Superman joke.
I must disagree. All slashdotters love reading the LKML drama, this is so much better 'cos you don't have to pretend to like any of the players!
