I believe it is because they restrict the drivers to their hardware only so it is hard to get it to work or even install on many computers with out the patch, or at least that is what I have been told.
I hope they set up some kind of system preventing the data used in the service from falling into the wrong hands, and by that I mean something above par. It will only take one successful hack of the system to make their business model come crashing down. Most of their potential business clients will only be willing to pay if they can assume that their data will remain secure with them as the only ones who can use it. Don't get me wrong I love the idea(although it is nothing new) but I hope they think this through.Just like windows is a prime target because of the potential loot this will likely be targeted.
I can see it now:
"Breaking News Hackers have Secured Top Secret Files Proving [Conspiracy Theory]! [Government Organization] Denys All Claims"
"Amazon Bankrupt After Lawsuit when Hackers Steal Client's Valuable Confidential Files"
"Slashdot Users' wetdream- Source Code for next Windows Operating System stolen off of Amazon's HaaS after Microsoft Budget Cuts due to the Well Known Vista Blunder"
The Chinese Carriers block content too but they are also the government. How come we can complain about them blocking content but if we block content it is ok. This is why I think comcast needs to stop(also so I can get my share ratio back in line:P)
Also by liking computers I was a little simplistic, what I meant to say was I enjoy code and the theory behind computers. I took an Intro to Computer Science class in HS and enjoyed it and that is what I have based my decision on.
I am currently at college as a CS major and I chose this because I enjoy computers and it can make me lots of money best of both worlds. That is the only way to do it.
This sounds like something the people of South Park would do.
Obligatory Joke.
1. Make cheap affordable laptops
2. Power it with animals
3. ???
4. Profit!
Though many never do, will this be the same?
I think that even if you force the security measures in place people will always find a way around it. People write their passwords on a Post-in note or tape it to their monitor. These security measures are good but definitely not perfect.
I remember the good old days where you only had a NES and you were happy. Hell i'll still play the NES(emulator). But I personally enjoy PC games more than console games because I am a WoW addict, but now I am recovering with Portal\HL-E2.
I have yet to see the "huge success" or any form of satisfaction.
And it is in no way good for all of us except the ones who are dead(we will be there soon).
They must be crying over this mistake
Although it is now a gun you could install it on all enemy computers and destroy their data networks
We must keep experimenting on those who are still alive.
I'm not even angry Well that makes one of us!
And we're out of beta we're releasing on time. Not the case for the magical SP1!

He said the earth will be swallowed by the sun in the year 5.5/Apple/26 (5 Billion year in the future) and destroys the earth. He has lied. I propose we send him and his magical police box back to where they came from. Who needs a time lord anyway.
Be sure not to take them or they will hunt you down.
Even if you hide them in... lets say a camera case.
I have attempted to get this to work on my computer because it is fun, interesting and passes the time.

I am in no way saying it guarantees lots of money it does however have potential for lots of money and as far as I currently care it is enough to make a living.

Good to hear that some people are fixing at least one possible "cause" of "global warming", which doesn't seem to be happening with our fuel for cars.
