I came here to say that. "Green" is just a trendy buzzword now. The current crop of airheads trying to out-do each other at who can be the greenest... have any of them read or even heard of the Mother Earth News, tried building a solar heat catcher to lower their heating bills, hell, done anything beside throw their plastic in the bin at Whole Foods and patted themselves on the back?
So what you're saying is that if Scientology lasts a while longer, it will gain legitimacy? Sorry, not just no, but hell no. If anything, Scientology demonstrates that all these little cults are just crocks of excrement. Old excrement, but excrement nonetheless.
And we need another SQL book... why?

As has been noted, it's been around for quite some time now. There was enough uncovered material remaining to justify another book?
China needs the USA to remain viable so that the USA can serve as China's capitalist cat's-paw. The USA is all about spreading capitalism (by way of installing fake democracy.) Capitalism dictates that cheapest goods win... and who is the king of cheap goods?
That's good! Please, continue to employ a line of attack that has proven useless every time it's been trotted out. That should do wonders for your candidate's poll numbers!
You don't have to explain D&D to me, I still run a group. If the DM is sending the players out to grind, then he's doing it wrong. There is all kinds of level-appropriate fun to be had... racing for high-level is just missing the point. Similarly, a video game should have appropriate challenges for all levels. If it feels like work, then it's not a fun game, and I'll spend my money elsewhere.
Why the flaming fugg would I pay for software to play a game for me, while also paying a subscription fee for access to the game itself?
Man, I'm not saying all MMO'ers are retards, but sometimes it seems that way.
I'm just saying, it's a lot easier to put Ubuntu on a PC than it is to put OS X on one. I find Ubuntu (or any Linux, really) to be the better choice for a host of reasons that definitely apply to my experience, and may apply to yours. Sure it's subjective, but I'm not going to try to pass my opinion off as fact. (I'll leave that to the Apple fanboys.;-) )
Seriously, as a guy with Linux, Windows, and Mac boxes in his house, I question the worth of putting OS X on anything besides an apple box. I use OS X on my Mini because that's what is there, and because I've got enough in the iTunes share to make it a pain to migrate. I've found OS X to be pretty, but clunky as all hell, and inexplicable in its wi-fi behavior. Many's the time I've eyed the mini with an Ubuntu DVD in my hand.
Bullshit. They basically implemented Fisher-Price D&D. "Oh, you never run out of spells, and even if you don't beat the attack roll, you'll still do -some- damage." It's watered down bullshit for the generation where every kid gets a trophy.
The new management is also taking liberties with the heritage. Killing Grayhawk? Axing Dungeon and Dragon magazines? Not cool.
I also don't care for the migration to laptop-based game planning and execution. I'm (obviously) a traditionalist. Dice, paper, and pencils all the way. If I wanted to play a computer game I'd load up Oblivion or take up WoW (not bloody likely.)
No freakin' doubt, and ditto on the Pathfinder. I'll be migrating my group slowly over to the Pathfinder mechanics as well. I'm considering attending GenCon '09 just to pick up a hardcopy at the official unveiling.
Before we hate on the WoW'ers too much, let's bear in mind that we dyed-in-the-wool Real Gamers have many more similarities with them than differences. Who would you rather hang with: a WoW'er, or an American Idol devotee?
That said, WoW has had a deleterious effect on D&D. Screw Blizzard, and screw 4th edition.:-(
I dunno. Japanese corporate culture indicates fanatical loyalty to one's company, especially when there's anything like the history that Miyamoto has with Nintendo. I seriously doubt that he'd leave Nintendo over something like this.
What if, say, the Georgian troops had this tech right now. Might make life a little harder on the Russian imperialist forces, ne?
Or is this scenario unacceptable because America isn't the bad guy?
Art ought not to be held hostage to the whims of what's popular. But I realize that video games aren't going to be funded by the NEA any time soon. I'd be fine with some kind of public fund that was on a willing donation basis. Even better would be if it were tax-deductible.
A sponsorship model isn't unworkable. If you believe (as I do) that game-making is a form of art, then you can apply similar models. There are endowments for the arts, why not a game-maker's fund? Some of the best symphonies ever written were commissioned works.

But I am le tired...
But if I'm wrong, take heart! Ctrl-Z is just two keypresses away!
So -that's- why I drive better drunk!!

Nothing wrong with milking a franchise IF they do a good job on the sequels!
I thought it sucked balls, personally. San Andreas was the much stronger title.

What ever happened to standards?
Sure. What's the point of having a culture anyhow. Pass the Budweiser, racin's on!

I mean come on... does this really need to be said?
Do you ever wonder if that "one guy" might need to take the hit for the good of all? Or perhaps find another way to share their brilliance?
