  1. Pay no heed . . . SUCKERS. on Mt. Gox Gone? Apparent Theft Shakes Bitcoin World · · Score: 1

Keep on trading your seashells, fools. Mr. Ponzi would LOVE you.

And when you get ripped off (and you will get ripped off), who are you going to cry to for help?

  2. A critical question on NSA Ally Spied on US Law Firm · · Score: 2

Did the NSA rearrange bits on the law firm's cable-connected computers?

That would be a key constitutional trip line.

  3. It's a kleptocracy on Russia Bans Bitcoin · · Score: 2

Banning Bitcoin will make it much easier for the kleptocrats in control to take their cut.

  4. Community Was Right on Target's Data Breach Started With an HVAC Account · · Score: 1

Watch 'Community' on NBC. You'll see that the HVAC people are the hidden power in our civilization. Be very afraid.

  7. Taking vs. Police Power on Skinny Puppy Wants Compensation For Music Used in US Interrogations · · Score: 1

If the use was a "taking," then the noisers will get paid. If the use was for "police power" then the noisers are going to get stiffed.

Seems to me that it's a taking. When the military gets its boards for waterboarding, it pays for them. Seems it also should pay for the noise it uses for noise torture.

  8. HP used to be greatl on HP To Charge For Service Packs and Firmware For Out-of-Warranty Customers · · Score: 5, Insightful

Hewlett and Packard were something special.

Now it's just a bunch of MBAs trying to massage their stock price.

  9. Publicly-Owned Cable Providers on US Democrats Introduce Bill To Restore Net Neutrality · · Score: 1

In a grocery store, the store makes the manufacture pay for product placement. If you want your product to get placed in the middle of a shelf, you have to pay the store money for it.

Without neutrality, the Internet will be the same way--those that cut sweet deals with the provider (cut him in), will get the best bandwidth for their services.

We need non-discriminatory municipally owned cable. Such a service NEEDS to be content-neutral, because of the constitution.

  10. Nothing Sucks Like Adobe on Adobe's New Ebook DRM Will Leave Existing Users Out In the Cold Come July · · Score: 1

Adobe wants to hook you, lock you in, and keep you forever. They don't want you just buying their software, they want your credit card permanently and irrevocably hooked up to their (leaky) computer system.

    The HELL with them.

  11. Omitting Stuff from a Warrant on DEA Presentation Shows How Agency Hides Investigative Methods From Trial Review · · Score: 1

    Mass starvation.
    What a tragedy.

  14. The Ninth Circuit totally gets it right. Any other ruling would be massively un-American.

If you limit First Amendment rights to professional reporters, then what you are REALLY doing is limiting First Amendment rights to the people who employ those reporters.

  15. B.S. on Obama Announces Surveillance Reforms · · Score: 1

    (c) Feinstein needs to be out of the Senate. I hope a good Democratic candidate challenges her.

Your post is based on the assumption that car-cyclist collisions are the only significant kind of accident.

I've gone down because of ice (x2), rain, and recklessness. If you'll look up the statistics, you'll see that borne out in the larger numbers as well.

And human-caused climate change is real. Watch insurance prices rather than listening to politicians that are owned by the oil and coal industries.

There was a very significant indigenous resistance force in South Vietnam in the '50s and '60s. That was not true in Korea in the '50s.

Besides, why wouldn't the North want to reunify the country after partition had been forced on them by the imperialist French and their allies.
