Pardon the pun, but i do believe gaming on Mac is going to be gaining Steam very soon. This should pressure more houses into releasing a trainload of mac titles. Hopefully Valve will literally open the floodgates of gaming on a platform with a much higher incidence of discrete graphics then PC.
As I said above, I doubt that this licensing limitation would stand up to a true test of law. The slope is too slippery to allow such deeply embedded patents to encumber rational use.
I fail to see how that is in any way enforceable. If I buy a camera, I am not licensing from MPEG-LA, the manufacturer is. MPEG-LA can bitch and moan all they want about commercial use, but I highly doubt their claims would stand up in court.
By turning in my DVR and giving up everything but locals and TBS/WGN via cable, I save almost $80 a month. I'd be happy to dedicate some of that former TV budget for enhanced internet entertainment. Guaranteed line speeds, truly unmetered down/up, QoS for Video/Voice/Gaming, IPv6 with static public exposure if desired. As long as the tubes remain relatively dumb, it will always be a very high value proposition.
I bought the Blu-ray the day it came out, gave the DVD to my in-laws and downloaded a phone version off Pirate Bay. Pay attention big content, this is how we consume media in the 21st century.
As far as i know, even if they dont have network connection they can still firmware update through other means.. Im pretty surethe Blu-Ray spec demands the ability to upgrade firmware.
A few logic fails in your post. Sony did force the change by making me choose PSN, future Blu-ray and game support or Linux. I paid for all of those, they have no right to make me choose. Secondly, even people that didnt have linux installed on capable hardware are absolutely affected. They have lost all future use of a feature they paid for. Thats like saying its ok for the car dealership to remove your spare tire because you've never had to use it, even though you paid for and own it.
Wow are you reading the wind wrong. Tablets are going to come in like a tsunami. The mobile space is moving at lightning speed to provide enough software that the need for a desktop is GREATLY diminished. WE are at the very beginning of the mobile internet appliance era. Its happening now. Apple was extremely wise in NOT delivering an x86 tablet and it has very little to do with control and everythign to do with being good enough for the vast majority of people. I could hand my mother-in-law an ipad and an Acer Aspire Revo ($200 nettop) to feed it, and she would almost never have to use the desktop computer paradigm again.
IM sorry you cant appreciate PA writing. It is very wordy and convoluted sometimes, but thats part of the appeal. He doesnt dumb it down for the masses. Most of the time when im reading i can speed skim through articles, but when i read PA i stop and really process what is being said.
In comparison to my WinMo5 XV6700 from 2006, the Pre feels like its made from technology that doesnt exist yet. Its an amazing piece of hardware/software. The ONLY thing I dont like about the design is the charging port door and where its positioned on the device.
One word of advice, turn on and use advanced gestures.
They work just fine until Apple decides they dont want that anymore. Apple has proven again and again that if they consider you even a minor threat, they will go out of their way to break you. Ipod dock connector being broken across the generations is a good example of Apple's willingness to break shit on purpose.
Love my Palm Pre Plus. It just works, fantastically. If i need variety i can always pick up an Ipod Touch and get internet on it via MOBILE HOTSPOT. Try doing that on your iPhone.:)
I stopped reading at "get a better quality stereo". You are an apple fanboy. We shouldnt have to upgrade our factory installed car stereo because Steve-o made minor changes to the port handshaking. The fact that you even put that out as an option shows you are very biased.
I had totally forgotten about that feature of ICQ. It really was very nice.
Thanks for the updates. Hopefully the Black Mesa:Source guys are paying attention for when they launch
You mean like Apple did with Firewire? Good plan.....

You can SELL it after as well....an important value consideration.

Laserdisc* Show some respect.

PS2 emulation wasnt pure software. The Graphics Synthesizer chip from the PS2 was still physically present.

The Palm Pre Plus has 3 hardware buttons and a switch not to mention 34 keyboard keys.
I would love for it to tell me how many chars ive used in a text as im typing it.

The Pre Plus is a nice piece of hardware. I came from a WinMo5 XV6700. Using my Palm Pre Plus is like heaven in comparison.
Pre Plus is the adequate hardware.

Funny awards no karma

Those 3rd party Itunes sync programs are great, right up until apple changes something and breaks functionality.
