I really liked the rivalry between BFBC2 and MW2. Competition is a good thing. So now we are going to have MoH vs BF vs MW, two of which come from the same house.
Have you USED an E series Dell? A giant plastic piece of crap compared to the even the D series. My buddy brought one over from his work and I just laughed at it. My Dell D830 is a WAY better built machine.
For MY personal PVR needs, an Atom just isnt going to cut it. My HTPC server uses alot of CPU power to detect and edit out commercials as well as compress the video into various formats. An Atom would choke on that workload. Also, encoding is the wrong word to use there, you are NOT encoding 16 streams, you are merely laying down 16 data tracks. Thats about as impressive as saying you have 16 torrents going at once.
I didnt get my first computer until 1999, simply couldnt afford one. (Cyrix '200') In the more modern sense, a computer without internet connection is going to be pretty daunting to an 8-14 year old. Yes you can still do local things, but honestly have you thought about how much modern computing relies on an internet connection?
And to your sig. The PS3 does allow modding. Unreal Tournament 3 off the top of my head. Also see this http://pcsplitscreen.freehostia.com/games.htm
I realize that, but I find that when i dont have internet access, my computer is pretty useless. There is no reason to get all crazy with technical answers, if they are playing games after you kill internet, administrate parenting skills.
Most of what you described can be done with a decent modern router. The hardware monitoring is a bit overboard, logs will tell you what you need to know in the event of a disaster. The force log out could be done via router too, just deny internet. Alot of this can be done with very little technical effort and more parenting skill. Most of this is going to take a dedicated person to monitor it over the course of the installation.
THe ipad is the consolization of media. Its functionally equivalent to the Xbox 360/PS3. People should think of the Ipad in these terms. It would go a LONG way to explaining Apple's actions. Nobody would raise too much of a stink if MS prescribed exactly what languages you can use to make games for Xbox. It sucks and we all hate it, but this is the reality of the Ipad. It is a media console.
There is no excuse for lack of USB ports or expandable storage memory, regardless of its other limitations. Appliance or not, neither of those would significantly impact anything other than the bottom line and the sphere of control.
Apple's model is becoming increasingly dangerous in its effect on the marketplace. Window 7 mobile closed app store is a sign of the computing apocalypse.
Physical access to the machine negates even the most powerful security. Pull the hard drive, mount on a USB interface, and BAM all security gone. Only full drive encryption is going to stop that, and quite frankly that is overkill for most everyday computing.
If Jobs announced a sea change to A4 on all portables I would be moving at supersonic speed to sell my Apple stock. I am by no means a fanboy. I own a mac mini I use for OS X testing, thats it.
Do you have anything other then smart ass commentary to back up your foolish claims?

The 15" and 17" would be using DDR3, just saying.

He does have somewhat of a point. Chicago is a cesspool, in fact the entire region is shit. Chicago, Detroit, Cleveland are all rotting holes.
Street fighter 4 is a great PC multiplayer game.

Didnt David Lightman from War Games have IMSAI equipment?

You have 5 22" monitors on you Media Access Control card? That is one powerful NIC!
Heat is going to be a MAJOR issue, as well as bulb replacement costs. Not to mention you need a room big enough to throw a decent distance.
You are a fool. Dropping OS X on the laptop line would kill Apple. They do not hate hackintoshes, they hate commercially produced hackintoshes.
No one is saking them to SUPPORT it, just dont fucking disable something you SOLD to me as a feature. That is theft.
Progressive component out JACKS were removed, not the feature itself.
I think there is a part of the equation you are missing......
Alliteration kills! Ban all alliterations.......for the childrens.
I KNEW the SCO thing would come up in this discussion, and it occurs within the first 10 replies. Bravo, sir.
Just remember that if you use the VGA adapter you lose HDCP, so no more DVD upscaling and no Netflix HD. Not a huge deal, but i do notice it.
