    My friend brought over an E series latitude laptop the other day. What a piece of trash compared to the D series. I was shocked at how shitty they are. Took out most of the ports so he has to have this weirdo port replicator plugged into the expansion dock, and its not pass through so he has to take it off if he wants to dock at the desk. Its ALL plastic and flexs easily. Just terrible design.

    I dont care about politics, i care about the truth. Wikipedia should be a repository of truth. It was fact that he was taken hostage, to actively lie to millions is wrong. Im glad he made it home safe, but wikipedia had no business getting involved other then publishing the facts.

    I gave up on wikipedia when i learned they were actively perpetrating a lie with a media blackout on some reporter who had been captured by some extremist group. THe justification was that it keeps media attnetion off him, helping him to stay alive.Any time someone would edit his page informing the world that this person was missing, wikipedia would change it back, eventually locking it. Unacceptable. It should not a be a repository of knowledge's job to change for socio-political reasons. Please present the facts, nothing more, nothing less.

    Im running a 4850 i picked up open box at best buy for $130, best video card i ever bought. I have a $600 BFG 8800 GTX sitting on the shelf dead. For the money, the 4850 could not be beat at the time of its release. P.S. BFG sucks, EVERY card I have owned from them has failed. 6800 GT, 7800, 7900, 8800 GTX.

    And apparently you dont undertand that people dont want ot hear about some bullshit accounting excuse. Its called marketing. Trotting out Sarbanes-Oxley jsut made them look like a tool. THere was NO legal requirement for them to do it in that manner, its all a simple matter of how you do your books.

    THe tech certainly isnt obligated to do Haz-mat work, but that doesnt mean Apple can shirk its legal responsibility. THe part is under warranty and is being denied for a non-industry standard reason. Explanations are in order.

    Your analogy is flawed, YOUR Linksys router does not connect to any Linksys property whatsoever. An Xbox 360 connects to Microsoft owned property. Microsoft has the right to control who can connect to their network.

    However, their network doesnt have to allow you to run non-blessed/tainted hardware. While I agree there is a point in that some of the resctrictions go too far, such as MCE disabling etc, and thats where the case would have merit. Not on the ban itself, but the extensiveness of loss of usefulness. Just to add something , MCE is LIVE aware, on the beta windows 7 you have to be signed into Live to use the extender at all. I had to call support and make sure that this was only a beta restriction and would be removed from RTM.

There IS a point where its just too much, not everyone has the corporatist mentality of scraping out every last penny they possibly can. it IS ok to leave money on the table Try to remember you are a human being and that wealth at that level is FAR beyond what you need to ever just survive, so why take more just for the sake of taking more?

    I have a VX6700 smartphone on Verizon and sucessfully got them to turn off all data services a few months into my plan.

    The only way you would be stealing (theft of service) is if you were feeding off Tivo's TV guide listing service without paying for it. If you can find a way to use a free listing service on a TiVo there is NO moral/ethical conflict.

    This doesnt mean they have to go out of their way to kill hobbyists. Its a dick move, and when people do dick moves, people tend get upset about, hence all the rhetoric flying in here today. Apple is jsut being a jerk, no one wants to see a third party cutting into Apple's main profit sources, but a little hobbyist hackintosh built by a home user isnt going to touch their bottom line. Im talking home use, experimental use only, nothing commercial/for profit.

    That is presuming that ideas should be able to be locked away. They shouldnt and your idea is untenable. IF you have a copyrighted work released to the public, you lose alot of the abilities to keep it private. You did not come up with the work on your own, but is a product of millions of years of mans evolution. You OWE us. Copyright is a nice incentive to allow you to profit from it for a limited time, but it doesnt mean you can dictate everything about it.

    When I did pirate back in the day it was mostly because i simply couldnt afford the things i wanted. Now that I CAN afford to buy the software i need, i NEVER pirate. Those that pirate are rarely going to pay, those that dont pirate usually will pay. Pretty simple really. For me personally,I cant tell you how freakin giddy i was the other day when i bought an mp3 off amazon the other day for $.79. I selected, purchased and downloaded it in the time it took to install itunes so i could do the same thing.

    And we started seeing spec rumors/announcements and prototype hardware right about now in the cycle. We arent going to see specs or prototypes for at least another 1.5 to 2 years in this gen. So while I may have mis-stated above, the sentiment remains that there are several reason that this hardware cycle is going to last longer then initially expected.

    THe reason the last generation of consoles went by so quickly is because the level of online interactivity on the previous consoles left alot to be desired and were jsut out of reach. Now that all the consoles have successful online digital money presses, the motivation for new hardware is less and less. I figure we wont see next gen prototypes for at LEAST 2 more years, maybe more.

    Its not cheating, but they can and will refuse you service if you are swinging odds to your favor. You cant force a casino to take your business and they have the right to refuse anyone at anytime as long as that reason isnt becasue of race, color, religion etc.
