Maybe because quality of life includes other factors besides the weather. And Seattle has ranked at the top in terms of quality of life for a long time. The bay area however isn't much further down the list.

Seattle has extremely mild weather year round that rarely causes enough discomfort that proper clothing can't fix. At worst its just cloudy too many days of the year. If you think that's the even remotely close to the worst you really should leave your bedroom sometime. 1 month in Tokyo during the rainy season will show you what messed up weather really is. A down poor at 80 degrees with extreme humidity in June is a lot worse than 60 degrees with overcast. A monsoon interrupting 100 degree whether is messed up, especially when you aren't surrounded by palm trees and coconuts.

The Chinese and the Americans are both hypocrites. That does not mean that it is okay to make excuses for the human rights abuses coming from either nation. That being said I find it somewhat alarming and suspect that you can capture the sentiment of the Chinese point of view with a single opinion that covers so many issues and is 100% one sided. Coming from an individual that is fine but it is completely irresponsible as a general sentiment. Calling someone a hypocrite is fine but there is an important component to that which is to critically assess your own standing in that situation.

Is this the time to encourage Chinese citizens to make excuses and turn their backs on their wrong doings? Hell no. The crap they do needs to be made clear and the same goes for the US. If anything needs to change its that the people pointing this out need to set a better example. I have been exposed to plenty of Americans that are trying to do this. What would be more interesting would be to hear from the Chinese citizens that are doing the same.

I wouldn't be surprised if half of them knew the lyrics to "nothin but a g thang". Blacks in America were in the same situation before rap music and BET. Are you going to blame Marvin Gaye for that? 1) Certain types of games do better on the console such as RTS and World of Warcraft. Those games don't have the high hardware requirements. Since thats out of the way they have an advantage in platform penetration because most gamers have a PC capable of playing WoW or and RTS game even if they don't do PC gaming.

    2) And they still use their PC for more important things like work, paying bills and trying to meet girls despite compatibility issues.

    3) This does not matter if you are paying for a subscription to a game you bought 2 years ago and still pay for expansions. Nobody is going to give up on an MMORPG because its buggy on release. In fact a PC gamer is more likely to go for updates. A console gamer who might not even have an X-Box live subscription will have to eat it if their new game is buggy.

    4) Yes and the consoles that had the big improvements in performance (PS3) have had the worst sales. Cutting edge consoles have taken a major blow while mediocre performance is what is selling the best. In the meantime PC hardware has improved, especially in notebooks and is even more common in machines that aren't used for much more than reading email and watching porn. Even the expensive gaming PCs will live on because they are very good at doing other things that are in demand such as entertainment, graphics, ripping dvd porn when a full blown workstation is not necessary. A lot of people who buy Alienware and Dell XPS don't even play games. Midranged notebooks are starting to get good graphics cards anyways.

Another thing to note is that entertainment devices in general are becoming more and more reliant on PCs (phones, mp3 players, handheld gaming systems etc). There's even a lot of consoles being hooked up to computer monitors instead of TVs. Eventually it may be the console that becomes redundant or at least becomes a full blown PC itself.

Population density isn't the issue either because I can still get better service in much of the countryside in Japan than I can in New York City. The funny thing is cell phone data plans in the US are much cheaper than in Japan but they use those services far more in Japan.

60GB is only a lot if you are downloading low quality content. But if you aren't downloading the crappiest YouTube videos you can find thats about 7 dvd porn images(not hd) or 7 video games not including the bandwidth you used to upload. The idea with Bittorent is that you have to upload content during and after your download is finished until you get a decent sharing ratio which is around twice what you used to download the material. So a 60GB limit does not mean you can download 60GB of content. On Bittorent that could be as low as 20GB of downloaded material if your client doesn't download any junk with it. With the crappy service in the US it does not take much to be in a situation where BT is running all day at low speeds that aren't worth mentioning.

Disc image downloads are very common. Do I actually have to explain where you put it? Burn it to dvd. Have you seen the size of hard drives these days? You wouldn't exactly be filling 1TB or more of drive space anytime soon.

When confronted with this information our dear providers reply that we don't need those kind of speeds right now and that the services in Japan etc aren't actually as fast as advertised.
