While failsafe graphics is not just good for average joes. Even more experienced users will benefit from the reduced hassle to troubleshoot display issues. It happens a lot particularly when you are configuring Linux on old hardware. Even then I hope it's optional.
Gentoo Linux!
Pilot: "This aircraft is equipped with a video surveillance system that monitors the cabin at all times"
CoPilot: "Any passenger caught compiling something fishy will be escorted to the wing!"
Pilot: "We've reached our cruising altitude and should be reaching our destination soon. If there's anything we can do to make your flight more comfortable, anything that has nothing to do with Linux, let us know."
CoPilot: "Weather at our destination is... DAMNIT how do you get this stupid thing to work?!."
etc
?
I know this is highly unlikely Is it possible in the future that the wine and Cedega projects merge to create a truly powerful tool for running windows games and applications on Linux? Something like point2run for everything. Or maybe someone can fork a new project based on CVS cedega with some added wine? Sorry if my questions sound noobish...
People post trash like this and don't get modded down. All I did was disagree about removing closed source drivers and now I suddenly have bad karma! Well done mods you're doing a terrific job. Even though my views might be the same as anyone else here you'd rather silence them.
I addition to quality and marketing I would like to add Multiplayer. Games that have really good multiplayer force those who would otherwise pirate them to go out and buy it. If you take away the multiplayer from warcraft3 you're left with nothing, the campaign is nothing special. Being unpiratable (ok I made that word up) can work wonders. There are quite a few people that download their games illegally but end up buying them for the awesome multiplayer they possess. Course you can make a singleplayer only game and sell like crazy (cough Oblivion cough) and at the end of the day nothing beats Hype+Marketing. Diablo2 sold well despite getting terrible reviews because of the hype about a diablo sequel.
I want stuff to work. I don't care about binary blobs etc and neither does the average user? If Ubuntu frustrates you go back to using slackware or some other distro where hardly anything works...
An old theory from the 50s suggests that a Roman legion lost in what is now Iran in the year 53BC lost their commanding officer. What is that supposed to mean? Did they lose a battle and flee to china rather than facing their superiors? Did they lose their sense of direction? (How can you mistake east for west?)
Maybe they were LARPing and got a bit carried away?
I've been running all over Azeroth, ALL DAY. If that isn't exercise slap me in the face you insensitive clod!
Sooo if masochists like Vista, which OS do saddists enjoy?
Farmer John says: Just doing my part for the war and all. Don't mess with my torrents or I'll show you the true meaning of "throttling"! >
The same can be said for most MMORPGs. A waste of time and money IMHO.

They brought a flag? They should have brought a panzerfaust.
There are those who play casual games in a "hardcore" manner. Surely they count as hardcore players?

I know this may be slighty off topic but what about the Athlon x2s? Do you have any numbers on them?
You can read/interpret the tagging as: say no to windows, yes to pclinuxOS. If this is what slashdot is becoming...

For a moment there I saw Richard Stiennon as Richrard Stallman, I was like WTH?!
