  1. Re:Tire wear? And more importantly, road wear? on Japan's Melody Roads Play Music as You Drive · · Score: 1

Well, if the optimal speed for driving over these "music roads" is 28mph for every road, I don't see the huge problem in handling performance. A quick Google of 28mph = 45.061632 kph. IMO driving under 30mph affords more than enough reaction time for almost any situation... So perhaps those crazy engineers did think of everything ;-)

To be honest, I don't think the US has the "balls" to launch a nuke against a country it may be at war with. With the obvious exception for if the war was going badly and was knocking on US shores OR if our enemy had launched nukes.
This is not WWII. Millions of men are not fighting a war against an aggressor that had killed/enslaved millions of innocent civilians and posed a threat to the entire world. As little as we have to lose in terms of respect from the international community, IMO I know that US citizens would riot in a manner never before seen over such a horrific use of force.

With the cold war over, and the major super powers having no one to have air battles with, is it really necessary to spend huge amounts of money to fight an enemy that doesn't exist? I mean, back in the Cold War, it made sense-ish, but since the current battle is against "terror", and "terror" doesn't have an air force ...
It's not so much about getting ready for war, as it is deterrence. Making sure the potential aggressor is aware of the risk so that he refrains from aggression. (See Iran). You don't need another cold war for a reason to have bigger guns than the next guy...

Example of programs: Boston College: Course - Boston University: Course different schools.

We can just let Wikipedia settle this :-)
    For the UK

In general use, a "college" is an institution between secondary school and university, a college of further education and adult education. These institutions were usually called technical colleges, or tech. Recently, however, with the differences in functionality between universities and colleges becoming less clear-cut, and with the phasing out of polytechnical colleges, many people are starting to call such institutions "universities". Many types of institutions have "college" in their names but are not colleges in the general use of the word
    For the US

In American English, the word, in contrast to its many and varied British meanings, often refers to liberal arts colleges which provide education primarily at the undergraduate level. It can also refer to schools which vocational, business, engineering, or technical curriculum. The term can either refer to both a self-contained institution that has no graduate studies or to the undergraduate school of a full university (i.e. that also has a graduate school).
And btw, those "traffic circles" - Most of us call them a "rotary" and we got'm all over Massachusetts and the greater part on New England :-)

I know the city in and out, northbound, southbound, westbound, your only hope is to *1 from your cell phone to check current traffic your side of the commute. If it's jammed more than usual, either wait it out and look good at the office, or pretend your backroad shortcut saved you time (hint, it's always 6 of one, halfdozen of another)

  25. Think about this one. on RIAA Seeks Royalties From Radio · · Score: 1

    Here's something to think about...

When's the last time you actually heard music on the radio? For cry'n out loud, you get 2, maybe 3 songs before a commercial break lasting what? 2-3 minutes? So carry the 2..... Radio stations will not be forking over uber amounts of cash from this it would seem. The only tragedy here is the likely death of the "40 Minute Rock blocks" that happen on occasion.

That said I am totally against this and the RIAA, but I hate radio too. If we thought radio was bad enough now, can't wait for this to take effect. The RIAA is shooting the artists and the consumers looking for some damn variety in the foot.
