I gotta say; I love the new Xbox/Kinetic, as well as my trusty (but noisy fanned) original Xbox. Too bad they can't make any other product worth the cardboard they ship them in. Kin, Zune, Slate, WinPhone7, Vista, etc.

Ballmer should take a cue and do his own exit before the board does this for him. Douche at the wheel is not a good sign of a company preparing to take over another market segment that they fail in consistantly.

  25. Re:Obligatory on Microsoft Puts the Kibosh On Kinect Sex Game Plans · · Score: 1

Yes, yes you are forced to have DRM, or encoded content, on your Official MS X-box game disc. All the CD/DVD based first-party console systems "protect" their content with DRM, and so do most cartridge systems. This all began with Nintendo using a special chip in their NES carts:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/10NES

It forces all development for the platform through the first party. Play by their rules, or you don't get to play. This is why the videogame industry is so fucking boring; they are afraid of the little developers making better games than them and raising the bar for their own, expensive developments. The mobile platforms offer some methods for the little-guy to build a nice game and offer it to the app store, but even those are sometimes locked down by a greedy entity, again afraid of what real-life might happen to disturb their pristine, sterile, walled garden.
