Don't get me wrong, I play modern and classic games regularly - but it feels like most protagonists you control after in games produced after 1999 don't engage me as much.
I'll use Half-Life as an example. It's hard to pass off your FPS protagonist as a strong afterthought after you leave a game, but heck, Gordon didn't even speak but he had depth.
Now, I don't want to state a modern FPS because I don't want to upset anybody, but it feels like companies are just trying to impress too many demographics at once, which gives you Mr. Uber-strong-but-gentle-war&peace-machine-from-the- future(and-also-past).
PAL PS3 systems arriving in Australia will be plauged by very limited backwards compatibility and includes launch titles that have been on the XBOX360 for over a year. What is Sony's plan to add something of great substance that will warrant the need of a PS3?
I find reviews tend to reflect the bias of the reviewer more than the aspects of the game itself. I believe an aggregate site (e.g. Metacritic) that collates a number of scores and provides an average is much more accurate.
You also have the option of reading each closing comment of each site to see if there are consistencies in what each review reports, such as if there are flaws in camera or if they mostly praise a great control setup.
I work in the South Australian Government, and a similar message was broadcast to every employee. On top of similar reasons for seeing no point in upgrading, we were informed that it would cost in excess over $7 million (AUS) to do a complete overhaul to the new software: including licences and training of staff in the software.
I can say I'm truely frustrated with how tv shows are handled down here. We're lucky to even get shows aired here at all, if not after huge delays.
Another point to bring up is, when the shows finally do get aired, it's at a unreasonable timeslot which forces the network to pull it prematurely because it "doesn't pull in the figures". Let me ask you this: does playing a show at 11pm ever expect to pull "good numbers"?
It's worse in some cases where sequels are involved. Either you're playing a whole new character who has nothing to do with the previous story - or the writers find a way to magically strip you of all knowledge, weapons and phat lewt.
In this world we live in where you cannot ask questions like if you are pro-democratic or republican, or what religion you follow, the questions I've seen in the Everybody Votes Channel ("how do you like your eggs cooked?" for instance) and simply too redundant to really capture a unique view of the world's stance on many real topics.
Sure, we now know most Wii users prefer their eggs fried - but do we really care?
Online gaming: you're by yourself, in the dark, getting headshotted, haxed and pwned by every single camping b&# out there. It's like the computer is using god mod against you!
LAN Party: Same premise, but you're with your mates - each shot is lauded, applauded, cheered at.
I know I'm focusing on FPS here, but it applies to any game with multiplayer being enabled. There's just simply no emotional connection to playing online which make the medium stale.

:-)
I can't think of a more appropriate department
I believe the Wii's photo-channel allows you to play a slideshow of photos, complete with music of your choice.
It'll even update WiiConnect24 Services (news, weather, etc) while you do so!
All from a 'lower-end next-gen console.'
We should look more at what designers are limiting the users to do, not what the hardware is capable of.
We all saw that hideous 'boomerang' model - I think I've seen enough.
This applies to Australian residents too.

That's just stupid...

1.) Slam competitors' innovations as useless
2.) Generate some really awful PR
3.) Re-invent the wheel
4.) ????
5.) PROFIT!!!
Physics are physics are physics.
Then you have the kind of physics that hurl a body 100 yards from a magnum or shotgun.
Lt. Dan as Scotty?? Heh...
I am so looking forward to this season's line-up of "quality" Australian shows, such as "The Wedge" and "Comedy Inc: The Late Shift"
/sarcasm
But let's not forget the "Up-late game show": that's done wonders for Aussie TV, amirite mates?

Before you know it, the US will declare war on apes on the grounds they believe that the primates have weapons of mass destruction.
But isn't it technically free speech to defame someone?
To quote Homer Simpson...
"NERDS!!!!"
AR: So this it - the thing everybody's been waiting for. Let's give it a whirl. Ready?
AR: Oh, backhand!
AR: This is absolutely amazing. How long did it take to come up with something like this?
It leaves alot to the imagination... I don't even want to know what's going on here...
You know... in a karma kind of way...
