  1. Re:Vista Numbers Suggest Poor Adoption on Vista Use Grows as Mac OS X Stays Flat · · Score: -1, Troll

Its performance is horrible. Period. Really? I guess I forgot to tell my 4-year-old 2.4Ghz P4 that Vista is supposed to suck. It is just as snappy as XP was and much easier to use. I don't use my computer regularly enough for it to predict my actions and cache stuff so it is only using ~50% of my 1GB of memory. The funny thing is, XP used just as much! My conclusion is basically this: if you suck at computers and are gullible and unwilling to investigate things for yourself, Vista sucks. Otherwise, Vista is quite neat and very handy.

But seriously, what I really feel will limit iPhone's adoption, at least on this side of the pond, is the non-serviceable battery. What's up with that? That's borderline demented! All the mobiles I've had since 1995 had interchangeable batteries! Every phone I've had also has a removable battery, as well. Everybody I know also has a phone with a removable battery. Nobody I know has ever taken the battery out and replaced it with a new one. I really don't see what the big deal is.

I know how you feel. I came here to read what people thought about this decision against the RIAA and instead I've scrolled through 50 posts about "irregardless"! I wish there was an option to collapse individual threads. I see stuff like this all the time. I've seen many discussions devolve into whole pages about some slightly related topic. I mod it offtopic when I can but it almost always gets overridden. Yes, the post was "Insightful" but it wasn't what we were supposed to be talking about.

I once modded some guy's comment in a Vista thread as "Redundant" and he came back to complain that it was the first time something like that had been said in that particular posting. If I decided to lose my power in that thread I would have said,"Your right, it hasn't been said in this comment section yet, but it has been said a million times in all the other Vista threads. It is the same crappy, misinformed "issue" that pops up every single time, therefore it is redundant."

I think you're the one that missed the point. At $600, the iPhone is no bargain, it isn't supposed to be a bargain. My phone plays games and music. I could take it on a plane with me and stay occupied for hours. Then I would have no battery left to make a call. The point consistently brought up by the arguement was that you could do something until the battery ran out but then you couldn't make a call. You can do that with any phone, the iPhone isn't special in that regard. What makes the iPhone special is it can keep you vastly more entertained but you must remember that it is still a phone. Besides, if you're that worried about it dying, bring the charger with you! Many planes have electrical outlets.

  22. Re:How about voice dialing and better battery on Second-gen iPhone Confirmed? · · Score: 1

That's the most ridiculous arguement I've ever heard! Nobody said that you had to run down the batteries just listening to music and watching movies. If the Apple specs hold up, you should be able to watch a movie, listen to music for a couple hours, and then have plenty of battery power left to make a phone call. You seem to have forgotten that this is not an iPod but an iPhone. Please note the Phone part of the name. If you are stupid enough to spend $600 on a phone and then run down the battery so you can't make a phone call, that's your fault, no one else's.

A longer-lasting battery is also a MUST if you want to use the sucker as *both* a media player/comp00tar and a phone. Want to watch a movie? Sure, but then you're out of a phone, buddy. Not so sure that's a great tradeoff. In-flight entertainment on long trips and something to call a buddy to pick you up from the airport? Better luck next time ^^ Or, how about utilizing a built-in human feature called "Self-control"? You don't have to run the battery down. Try using a little imagination.
