I was surprised to learn that burning coal seams in China contribute nearly as much greenhouse gases as all of the cars in the US. (http://www.discover.com/oct_99/break.html).
Bill of Rights basically give civil liberties to the citizens. But the 10th is relatively unique in that it gives rights to the states.
Not true. The Bill of Rights enumerates rights which are not controllable by the government. Because a government that can give you a right, can take it away.
The 10th says anything not covered in the Articles and the 9 amendments is up to the states.
To the government, this means nothing. Couldn't have been said better.
I think the U.S. needs to take a step back and re-evaluate a lot of laws and precedents that have been set. This goes beyond political bickering. I'm talking about the basic functions of government. Sadly, our nation has degenerated into a nation of precident, not laws. Where one a-hole judge can overturn decades or centuries of jurisprudence.
The basic functions of the federal goverment were intended to be *very* limited. All the rest, well, read the 10th amendment.
I agree. Going offtopic though. It's stunning how FreeBSD works. It's all there. No futzing with anything. After battling the Debian installer, installing Mandrake (8 maybe? been a while) and Redhat 7.x and fighting with it to no end to get the volume buttons on my no-name laptop working, I gave up. FreeBSD 4.6 just worked. Take that back. I had to uncomment # device pcm in the kernel, and recompile and buttons worked!! I think 4.7 comes with that already compiled. DVD support through MPlayer kicks tail. Only reason to dual boot to XP is for games. Except the buttons dont work in XP! >:(
I discovered ROX about a week ago. ICEWM and ROX with the *excellent* GKRELLM for sys type stuff is excellent. Top if off with Mozilla, Pan and Sylpheed and 90% of your needs are probably met. XMMS of course, and MPlayer kicks tail.
They're making them look like big ass trees. The best one is on the PA Turnpike near Willow Grove. It's in the middle of a wooded area. It looks good except, it's easily three times the size of normal trees, oh, and in the winter, it's the only one with leaves on it!!!!
I'm looking for a PC104 or similar system for a project i'm working on. I'd like it to be BSD based (Open or Free is fine), a VGA or SVGA out. I'd like to be able to have digital ins/outs as well as analog inputs as well. Networking would be a plus, but not necessary.
Ideally, i'd like to write a GUI for this application using QT (or similar toolkit).
A tinyBSD like this is a good start. Has anyone else done or know how to do something similar? Thanks in advance...
'fraid not. Since they would be using according to RMS, GNU/Linux, and clearly, Gnu's Not Unix. They would be fully in the right. If you could moderate reality, RMS would get a -1 Life's a Bitch.
Thanks for the repost. I liked his quote referring to betting on VA Linux instead of the US Economy. Ooops.
If only I could moderate this thing.... +1 Sucks to be You.
Wawa dairy in Wawa Pennsylvania is where the name comes from. It comes from an indian word for Grouse, co-incedinataly "wawa". If you've been to one, you'll see the flying bird in the logo.
Wawas rock. But to anyone outside PA/NJ/DE they think you have lost your mind.
Nothing like getting a Wawa Roast Beef hoagie at 3am.
Amen. Having extensive VMS experience on your resume is definately a way to get yourself noticed. Even in a job where there is no VMS. People seem to remember it.
I wonder if all those products we paid for that run on AlphaVMS will run on Itanium VMS. It would be sweet though. Didn't DEC or Compaq come out with some sort of compatibility product during the VAX to Alpha transition?
If only they remake this game..... this was awesome.... haven't seen it anywhere available online....
What about Star Control 2? Accolade I know, but it was awesome too...

I suppose you are correct. ;)
However, the magic words where documented. So I could find them.

Mozilla 1.0 on FreeBSD 4.5-RELEASE works just fine.
