I know it's tempting to only read the headline and shoot some people down, but perhaps you could read the summary too:
"With the newer Android NDK, however, using native codes for Android apps has been becoming easier. So, the VLC developers have developed two basic modules for audio and video output based on the new NDK and most of the VLC libraries has been ported to Android"
I don't know where you determined that airlines can only fly certain government-prescribed routes. That's patently false.
Any pilot, of any plane - airline or not - can file any path they want as long as it follows the basic FAA rules and doesn't put them through the center of a storm or hurricane or into the side of a mountain or something.
The airline companies decide what routes each start-to-finish flight should take and dictate to the pilot what they should file. The government has little to say about it whatsoever.
I think you're confusing independent (as in, not related to the deregulation of the industry) advancements in technology used in the process of transporting your ass from one end of the country to the other. In 1980, fuel and its price was of little concern, as was the supply of petroleum. Now that we've opened our eyes and realized that it matters and the supply is limited, companies have taken the steps to produce more efficient means of travel which SHOULD have been done in the 80s, as the technology to do so was already present.
Maybe soon Google can cater to the truly stupid and illiterate and just replace all known words with representative pictures like they do on McDonalds cash registers now.
After all, instead of learning to read at a better level you should totally cater to their level so they don't have to learn anything.
That's exactly it. Technically, I am part of Anonymous because I empathize with them and surf their various internet presences. I post and comment, I participate.
I am not a criminal (that I know of), I don't participate in their 'attacks'. I support their cause, and appreciate the work they're doing to bring attention to the BS and injustice in the world brought about by closed censoring governments and corporations.
I think they can handle some situations better, but it's near impossible to pin down WHO was responsible for it within their 'loose organization' - especially without any distinct leadership. This is exactly where their strength comes from, and their reason for being as they are.
Just because you participate in their online discussions does not mean you are participating in their criminal endeavors.
I hope you mean the driver. If I have to install some shitty software you monopolizing bloatware manufacturing retards came up with, the deal is completely off the table.
I did the same about three months ago and haven't looked back once. What isn't on Netflix or Hulu can be found elsewhere.
For those that are watched elsewhere at a loss to the production company, it is nobody's fault but their own. Provide the video on Netflix or Hulu and make your respectable profit from ad revenue and subscription fees, or don't be surprised when your viewership and ratings plummet and illegal sharing skyrockets.

It wasn't illegally released. There was no crime committed by releasing that data. Assange and his company didn't steal the information, so they are not liable on that front. They didn't receive any valid court order or legal reason not to publish it.
The fact is, he is the only person who was willing to stand up to the government and tell them - deservedly - to go fuck themselves with their dictatorial ideas of international policy and national security. The egg is on their face, and if anyone is guilty of something criminal it would probably be the government.
Our government is doing more damage to our way of life and "freedom" than the "terrorists" ever have. Put them in their place.
Did you READ the article? It mentions several times that there is lacking - if any - evidence supporting this arrest, and that it seems even to the Swedes that it was a plot to bring down Assange.

In other news, it appears that IEEE wants in on a part of this 'deregulation' scam action. They're looking a little thin in the pockets.

This is laughable, but I can't tell what is funnier:
The fact that the government thinks they know shit about computers,
or the fact that they think they can do it better than any other technologically-advanced country in the world right now.
Maybe soon Google can cater to the truly stupid and illiterate and just replace all known words with representative pictures like they do on McDonalds cash registers now.
After all, instead of learning to read at a better level you should totally cater to their level so they don't have to learn anything.
I guess they decided to change it to just "Egalite, Fraternite" and drop the "Liberte" part, huh?

I'm not sure how to feel about both Lady Gaga and Jon Stewart/Stephen Colbert beating out the President of the United States for most influential.
I notice Suck-it-berg is at the bottom of the list - how did he win? Do they just not actually care about votes?
I don't think he's a douche. I want to hang out with him and ask some questions about the good shit he may have not posted.
If you're ever in Wisconsin, Mr. Assange, we shall puff tough.
You know, it just shows up as ******* when you type hunter2. Slashdot automatically blocks your password if you type it.

Starbucks free net FTW... ...we're not all just sitting there and trying to look trendy writing something on a Mac, you know.
ABC or CBS or one of those networks has the entire series of Matlock and MacGyver if you're so inclined to watch them...
Sorry, I started on the M's.

Not much left to chance on that.

I believe Due Process is one of the freedoms our government is working fervently to abolish, so I say turnabout is fair play.
The government grants due process to the citizens, it doesn't flow the other way.

Jeez, I know it's /. comments but come on...
The whole "eight national laboratories are helping" bit put my fears to rest a little.
This article should be called "Avoiding blatant plagiarism as an Indy Game Developer"
It's funny that the government - by abridging one of our most fundamental freedoms - is claiming to protect our freedom.
So now it's come to pass that organizations don't even have to have terrorist motives or perform a terrorist action to be so labeled?
Fuck this. Unless it's revolution time, it's time for me to leave.
