Or hell, distribute it with bittorrent with the fucking ad's in it on the day it airs!
Its brilliant. They pay virtually nothing for a few servers to seed it until the swarm takes off. They get their adverts out into the open. There's very little reason to track down some ripped version with no commercials as you can get the legit one 8-12 hours sooner!
Where is the downside to this?
Heck, they could even require a DRM license(which would be given to anyone for free) and track exactly how many views it gets! They can do a pay per viewer model with the advertisers.
I have my parents running Ubuntu. They do everything they need to, and they like it cause "it just works", something that windows has never done for them.
Do you know how much is spent each year treating smoking related conditions? I don't pay my taxes so you can abuse your body and then expect the government to pay for your medical expenses because you cant afford them.
As you said, how bout some personal accountability?
And while on the subject, why do they insist on likening anything with a display and controls to playing a video game? Its not an Atari, its a complex medical machine.
Ditto here. Im at about 270, but Im also 6'6". I ran in high school, but about my senior year, I passed the 6'4" mark, and It began to wear at my knees.
I still do 45 mins of weights every day, and I walk 2 miles every morning, but the doctors tell me I need to lose weight.
Ugh, and lets not even get into trying to find clothes.
I cant count the number of controllers Ive worn out, well I probably can, somewhere close to a dozen dualshocks and dualshock 2's. Haven't used the new one yet, but its essentially identical from what I hear.
The Xbox controllers are too narrow, my fingers end up mingling underneath wondering what to do with themselves. And the knobby, bulbous buttons are irritating. As for Nintendo.. well lets just say the wiimote isn't going to get me a shorter lap time in Gran Turismo...
Of course, this might also lead to even greater levels of worthless game footage uploaded to youtube. At least there was a slight technical knowledge required to capture the video, then encode and upload. Now literally anyone can do it.
Anyways, its still a nifty thing I guess. Go Sony.
Oh please for the love of all that is holy, everyone stop using the "dont like it, switch" argument! Its common knowledge that the majority of US broadband users are only serviced by ONE company. Its simply not an option, and its getting old.
As to your other arguments to the legality and saturation of networks, your viewpoint is quite backwards. The fact of the matter is, its a precedent being set, that they can sell you "always on high speed access to the internet", but then dictate what you can and cannot do with it. A phone company that listened in on your phone calls, and then disconnected you because your conversation with your girlfriend wasn't deemed as important as a business call being handled by your neighbor is an apt description of whats going on here. We pay for access to something, we don't expect them to determine what is important to us and why we are going to use it.
If it boils down to a supply and demand issue, why doesn't it sort itself out the same way all other markets do? Do you see gas stations dictating where you can and cannot drive? No, they raise their prices and pass the cost of business to the customer. Its simple economics.
Man, for a collapsed economy, we must be doing pretty good.
Im enjoying a nice pizza tonight, and a few cold beers I bought on the way home from work. Ill admit gas and milk has gone up a bit, but its not to the point where I cant go about my daily life. If this is a collapsed economy, I say we leave it collapsed.
If my ISP is going to inspect my packets to the point of identifying their content as p2p, then they should be 100% responsible for any and all illegal activities I may or may not conduct on their connections.
The entire concept of the DMCA safe harbor clause was founded on the understanding that it would be virtually impossible for providers to monitor and filter illegal or unlawful activities and data. However, now it has become perfectly reasonable that they can identify and reroute or slow this traffic. This clearly nullify's the safeharbor provisions.
The ISP's need to realize they cant have it both ways.
Mod Parent Funny.
WTF is up with these moderators? Anything that might be considered humor gets dropped to troll nearly instantly.
Geez.

True, but we're not talking 5k. This is 5k PER Window. It would probably take upwards of 10 years to even come close to paying for itself.
Someone didn't catch the sarcasm...
Well, at least there's a random source picture of someone snowboarding...

Better question: Was Vista ready for the desktop?

Your sarcasm meter is broken.
Everyone knows it was Al Gore who invented the Internet.
To each his own. I love em.

Someone hasn't played any of the Kingdom Hearts series...
On a side note though, how is this supposed to be a 'secure' environment? Cant anyone who owns a DS and a Disney game simply connect?

The sad likelihood is that IP's will become tied to our identities by laws pushed by RIAA and MPAA interest groups.
They will stand on the side of Hollywood, not the side of the citizens. Just like they always have.
Mod parent up. Great presentation on HDD recovery.
Viewing Angle != FOV
Precisely my point good sir.
If they are inspecting packets to this level, they can readily compare that information to a database provided by the RIAA/MPAA/Microsoft/Apple etc..
They CAN easily identify materials that are copyrighted.
My plan to escape American ISP's and DMCA madness by going to Canada has been foiled!
