I taught my 7 year old nephew phython, nothing fancy. We used the console and I told him how to use it as a calculator. Then he learned how to store answers in variables that could later be used. He also learned how to create very simple functions that did the same as what he had learned previously.
It was a good experience, we didn't go past what I mentioned previously since he was 7. But now that he is 12 he like to do web pages. But he knows what a language can do.
An entire 3D chat world is a pretty huge expense (even with Google ads revenue) just to have a bunch of immature users telling each other "a/s/l?" and "ur gey".

Ender in Exile
·
· Score: 1
1. Ender in Exile is the first sequel to Ender's Game that is actually centered around Ender Wiggin himself, while he's still a child.
Most of it takes place between chapters 14 and 15 of Ender's Game. It involves characters from the Shadow books, including the mother and son who go off to a space colony at the end of Shadow of the Giant.
So Exile is a sequel to two different books. But you don't have to have read either of them. All the information you need to understand Ender in Exile is contained within the book. If you've read the other Ender books, you'll recognize characters and events -- but it's been tested on readers who've never read an Ender book, and they understood the whole story without a problem.
It's a tale of soldiers who can't go home. They won their war, but they end up so far from Earth that if they tried to return, by the time they got back, everybody they knew and cared about would be dead. What was the point of returning? So they stay and colonize their former enemy's land.
Ender Wiggin is appointed to be governor of such a colony. But because he's still only a child, it is assumed by the captain of the starship carrying him there that Ender will only be a figurehead, while the captain himself becomes the real governor.
That's far from being Ender's only challenge -- for instance, there's the mother who thinks her daughter will be the perfect mate for Ender (that's the Jane Austen portion of the novel), and an alien species that is discovered on the planet before Ender arrives.
I think this may be the best of the Ender novels. It comes out on 11 November in bookstores everywhere.
I truly believe that here in Guatemala we could benefit from the OLPC. I want to get 2, because the true benefits come from having at least 2. Al the fun about sugar is the neighborhood.
Sure there is need for food, sure there is a need for infrastructure for many things. But being able to see the world, even from a small screen can definitely change your world view.
For me, nothing has shaped me, or my carreer that going abroad and studying in the US. Now I now that there is a better way for government to work. I know that my government has to change, and I have the power to change it. I could bring this knowledge to 1 child, even if it's through a small laptop. I'll do it.
1. Minimize clutter, if it can be done with a button, then you don't need an icon on your screen. Remove the apps you don't like/use
2. If you don't have OS 4.6, get an HTML email viewer, your eyes and mind will thank you. I use Empower, there are a few choices.
3. Select a theme that you like, stick to it. Changing themes often, slows you down.
4. I like to separate work from personal email. All personal email goes to gmail account. Gmail app is pretty good. I like the fact that I can get any email with search.
5. Get some usefull apps:
a. Timer from Neosistec.com
b. BeamReader (pdf reader)
c. Mobipocket reader
d. Maps
e. Opera Mini is really good
f. BBSmart Alarms Pro, it rocks for alarms
6. Have some fun, put some games:
a. Nintaii, it will keep you hooked
b. Facebook app
c. The chat program of your choice
What I really wanted from Apple was a touch screen macbook air. Instead of opening it's just a screen, they have the technology, the size is right; why didn't they make a tablet?!
How can someone be bad at commentary? Card points at the things he does not like about the situation, you can comment like you just did. It's your opinion.
Even Rowling is entitled to throw her legal weight on others. The book is a companion for the Harry Potter series, it has to be about Harry Potter. You won't buy it unless you have read/own Harry Potter. She has no case.
My most beloved math class @ the university was History of Mathematics. We learned about the basics, Euclid, Newton, etc. They were the innovators, the builders of unseen worlds. If CS students, learn to think like them, a java class is no problem. Thinking is what CS is about.
We have a 100MB soft limit, 150MB Hard limit. I receive over 100 emails CCed everyday, plus the ones that are directed to me. I have to download everything to my machine. I have over 10GB of email, separated on quarterly archived PST files. We don't have special permisions, thus almost everyone dowloads their mail to their machines.
This is great news. I've been following these procedures for quite some time. Retinitis Pigmentosa runs in our family.
One thing to point out is that this disease is a degeneration of the retina. It's called pigmentosa due to the fact that as the retinal cells die, small spots appear on the retina. The degenerations starts on the outside, and moves inward, creating a tunnel-like feeling for the patient.
My uncle had surgery in Cuba (We live in Guatemala, so let's just skip the whole Cuba-American posts) where they operated his retina, and treated it with oxygen and Ozone therapies. This type of operation is not intended to cure it, but to stop it. This was about 5 years ago, and his retinitis pigmentosa has not spread, but it's still a bit early to know for sure.
If you have more questions there is tons of information on the web
Same here, gmail is my personal account so new email can wait.
Gears is way cool.
"and "K-line" was married to Britney Spears. Or was that K-Fed? "
I do not wish to smell either one.
You are then only one.....

My thoughts completely it's not the policies, but how you present it.
She already filed for registering the word Bugger.

Anybody else think The 13th Warrior (based on his Eaters of The Dead) is actually a good film?
I liked it. Still do. I think it's unappreciated.
The problem with the film was Antonio Banderas; the rest it really well done.
Give them the machine, and if any file is taken then it's Porn.
......feelings of inferiority.....
I trully thought I was going to see something spectacular. Better keep those pictures in file, rather than on the web.
this movie is better than "The Da Vinci Code"

Oh well, guess we'll have to wait for Steve.
The difference is gender base, not browser type.
The man was also happy to receive a DVD with all the images on his computer, including a 500MB file named NSFW.pst
Foxpro is old, but is very powerfull as a flat database.

The point of the book in question is a commentary, which adds value to the Harry Potter series. In a nut shell RTFA.
