Blue dog dems are voting more like republicans right now. They recognize that they're weak for their reelection bids, and don't want to piss off their constituents. Never mind the fact that with the way things are shaping up right now, it looks like the next election cycle is going to be a "vote out the incumbents" type of event.
I often find that people who are uptight about curse words/swearing tend to be the ones that have nervous breakdowns and quit. Swearing and free speech in general is a good thing, IMO.
I mean, a hundred PS3s sure, but 8? I think we are de-valuing the meaning of the word 'super':) I think we are de-valuing the meaning of the word 'inexpensive':)
Even spending 5 seconds googling this issue would tell you that this only occurs when the user is running Kaspersky. The blogger that posted about this added his two cents in, which is factually incorrect.
...occurs when a Vista user (running Kaspersky Anti Virus 6 or 7) tries to copy a large number of files (~16,400). So if you're like most people in the world, and have never touched Kaspersky AV (or Vista, for that matter), then this is a non-issue.
Why are you on slashdot, Mac hipster? Shouldn't you be down at the starbucks, photoshopping your latest artistic venture while listening to the wallflowers and eating a scone? Isn't that what Mac users do?
From the summary:
The original sales estimates for Ubuntu computers was around 1% of the total sales, or about 20,000 systems annually. The program so far is meeting expectations.
Maybe you should have read TFA:
We would have a conversations with vendors about pushing Linux support for their hardware, but without a Linux product offering from Dell for that hardware, it was very difficult to convince them to release Linux drivers. That has certainly changed now that we offer Ubuntu Linux, and we are making much more progress in our vendor discussions. So a quote from a Linux Engineering Mgr from Dell that there is "much more progress" equates to "this has convinced hardware makers to distribute Linux drivers." He stated this "point blank"? Wow. What's next? A truck or two in the desert in Iraq would mean they have stockpiles of WMD's?
As exciting as this (potentially) increased Linux user base can be.. everyone needs to put their junk away and consider the fact that an additional 25,000 users a year is not going to sway the market or convince hardware makers that linux drivers should be routinely distributed. Moving from 1.0% to 1.00125% of the market is not a convincing argument.
I call bullshit on this alarmist blog. 99% of the world's Windows users don't give a shit about the updates, and will click anything that pops up on their PC. Most of them likely have no clue what "Windows update" is. The 1% that know what their doing have likely never trusted Windows/Microsoft for anything in the first place. To say that "Trust in windows update is eroding" is just a bit fud-dish.
..Dell said his company has seen Linux uptake for servers increase faster than Windows server products.. So, there has been a greater percentage increase in number of Linux units sold than in number of Windows units sold. How is this news? We can gloss over supposed percentage increases all day, but without any real numbers to go by, this is rather meaningless.
The ramifications if the lawsuit is successful would be to allow phone users in California to unlock their phones, What am I missing here? Doesn't the DMCA already make it legal to unlock phones?
Games for -all- consoles tend to be a bit lacking this year, as far as I'm concerned Well, I'd imagine you don't have a 360, then. This has been MS's year as far as AAA games being released: Halo 3, Bioshock, Blue Dragon(US), Eternal Sonata, Guitar Hero 2/3, Rock band, Mass Effect, Orange box, and more.
Of course, if you don't like FPSs, RPGs, or music games, you'd likely say that this year's games sucked then.
Until a third party publisher releases a game that sells well on the Wii, it shouldn't be surprising that developers are shying away. (Given Nintendo's track record of dicking them over.)
Yes. Because it's the Republicans' fault that a Democratic controlled Senate failed to pass a bill. You should get a radio show on Air America.

For what it's worth, it's Lockheed.

No shit.
Big Daddy Telekinesis Football.
...but does it run Linux?
Because - it is a Windows bug. However, few other apps besides Kaspersky triggers it.

Agreed. Especially when you're releasing OSX SP6.
Holy shit, it's Borat! I didn't know they had the internet in Kazakhstan...

Since when was either Studio owned by Microsoft? This is such a fluff piece for a slow gaming "news" week.

Monster Hunt 3 will likely sell well in Japan, as expected. Do you honestly think it's going to be a hit in the US?
