You know, being able to triangulate someone's location after a natural disaster might not be a bad thing, in cases of rescue. At least, that's how you justify it, at first. Of course, critical infrastructure for comms pretty much collapsed as soon as the batteries died, generators ran out of diesel, etc. Time is of the essence when deploying your stingrays!

I too like to remember those who have given the ultimate sacrifice in the quest for scientific achievement, but I have no desire to go look at the coffin. I'd rather watch a nice Imax movie of a shuttle floating over the horizon.
I used Facebook as a situational awareness tool in the workplace. Often times, I would find out what's happening at the workplace through Facebook long before I'd hear it through official channels.
What people like to believe in is the spirit of entrepreneurship that Apple and others emulated. The garage isn't so important, the idea of a garage is powerful stuff.
Let's be careful with this project. Dr. Richard Daystrom should not be allowed anywhere near this. But on a serious note, will this computer start with a knowledge base, or will it grow up? And who will teach it?
If you do go to the moon, please stay away from the original moon landing sites. You may take pictures and live video of them (to shut up the nutters), but please don't trample those footprints. I may want to gaze on them myself some day.
