ok, fine, I was thinking about my n-trig plagued Surface Pro 3, that I was surprised calling Microsoft being already 3 years old, and they will not do anything about phantom touch dead-zone issue mentioned above that many, thousands of people experience. Given that a three year coverage would not include mine, although I have a not really working touchscreen for over two years. Also fi this flickering starts for someone later this year, in year 4, they would not be covered, although it is not the user's fault, that it was imperfectly manufactured.
This "calibration" does not require touch input. Actually RTFM specifically says not to touch it at all. As you can see in my videos, it looks like some SNR, background noise level sensing or so,...
"covered for up to three years from the time of original purchase. " What a bullshit, early adapters may have lived 3 years with the manufacturing defect, and now they do not even get it fixed? See my n-trig post above: If they even would have such a program for the Surface Pro 3 I quoted, I would not even be covered with a three year old device that I had touch issues with for nearly two (2!) years now,..! I personally will never buy such integrated, glued and sealer non-user serviceable AIO devices anymore. Enough of this overpriced frustration producing junk.
Since they switched to the N-trig touch screen and digitiser since with the Surface Pro 3 they also have a phantom touch and dead zone issue that remains unsolved: https://www.youtube.com/watch?...
Running some –not even designed for that model!– "Sony" n-trig calibration tool can sometimes help, a little bit, temporarily at least, or so (your milage may vary), I find it ridiculous that many users need to live with a mostly brocken touchscreen for years! Also it can be really hard and sometimes impossible to even log in and reach the device manager to a actually switch the f*cking HID off, if it produces too many random touches,..!

However, I do not seeing them coming back, though I never liked vinyl as a child, I understand today, that at least you can buy them, and even had rondom access, and can play them in 20 years - on reel-to-reel you need to first record, you can usually not "just buy" prerecorded, and then you do not even get random access, nor can play them in 20 years with high end quality, due to play-thru and such of the magnetic tape by just storing it,... and the type may even disintegrate / smear,...
Just last week I installed Sgi Irix on my Octane (was only using Linux before) - wow, was that a adventurous experience. Also early Netscape. Unfortunately the WWW does not look that great without CSS, and too old HTTPS/SSL support: https://youtu.be/AkXB8M-0rTM?t...
are those stupid Google apps. Do not even use their email client, you never know if they send my imap credentials into the USA NSA PRISM et a. database for later use. No thanks.
junk pile of hardware? that would be so nice, I currently mostly need an AAUI adapter (Apple AUI, Ethernet) https://www.youtube.com/watch?... If you find other goodies, let me know. Other most wanted is some Sgi Octane HD tray, or this Mac 8100/80 HD and CD-ROM tray: https://rene.rebe.de/wishlist/
, Apple themselves made the mistake to ship the first Intel Mac's with 32-bit only Intel Core (1) Duo, so, Also this saves only a few hundred MB, I would much prefer if they kept a copy of 32 bit system libraries so that vintage software games, and office productivity fluff would still work.
Seriously, why is there not yet a extended warranty program or class action suit regarding the Surface's dead zone and phantom touches? https://www.youtube.com/watch?...
However, I'm among those who does not even want to have this pseudo security, but vendor backdoor management engine / system processor thing in my box to start with.

Right I wanted to mention the Orville, I was skeptical but really liked it. IMHO it is a more "realistic" as in "human" STNG.
It is a bit sad that nowadays series run so short, 12 or so episodes, when in the 80s they were more like 24 or something,...:-/
The 19080 Facebook episode was great too, nice mirror for today's world, and STNG had such kind of filmed on the street back in the day episodes, too. Not to mention the cinema movies,...
It is most likely one step forward, two steps back. For most other non-CRC32 software anyways.
my latest video update on the Surface Pro 3 touch issues: https://www.youtube.com/watch?...
Well, unfortunately yes: https://www.youtube.com/result...

Without knowing the details: Fixing the Surface Pros could be as simple as replacing a $0.10 capacitor.
Well, prying a super-glued tabled open, reflow, and gluing everything perfectly back together, is not exactly cheap, ..!

if you thought a VPN from Facebook would be a good idea, what were they expecting? And who the heck would want to ever use this? FB employees?
Could not imagine they produce this faded patterns like that in 2017. Sad.
Also this homepot certainly is quite mono, ..?
