    It depends how the money is spent. I'll borrow money all day at the, what, 0.5% the US government is charged, and invest it in other things, and I should be making money after interest.

    "I've never gone in debt" is saying "I've never attempted a project/investment larger than I could support at the time."

    People have complaining about the youth having something wrong with them since before the trial of Socrates.

    In fairness, they were correct. The youth around that time were demonstrably worse than their elders.

    What a strange way to phrase it. Economists projections are regularly questioned, and the weather is well predicted on a 3-day, annual, and long term scale. Now, you get different granularities, but I find precipitation prediction works well on a 3 day scale, it does tend to be warmer in summer than the winter, and most years are the hottest years on record (lately).

    Weather benefits from the fact that clouds don't change behavior because we talk about them.

    Oh no, you mean in 3 years they may produce as many emissions as an area filled with 1/3 the number of wealthy people! People who can afford to have already thrown tons of money at renewables instead of trying to get clean water to half its population?

    I join you in being shocked and appalled that Indians want to use 1/6-1/10 the energy per-capita as Europeans.

    No, that's certainly not how it's supposed to work. You left out the false advertising where they advertise x/y and deliver q/r respectively. If q/r were what was advertised, it might be different.

    Among other things, $22 trillion dollars in land, as well as IP rights (patents), spectrum, power and other licensing fees all require annual payments in US dollars if you want to continue to own them.

  13. Actually, totally public financial transactions would be really interesting. I mean, you still need some way of signing them, but you don't need end-to-end encryption per se. There's this bitcoin thing based on that concept.

    Food waste is a pretty big problem in general, but extra KFC and needing 8 vacation homes are very different classes of problems. The US produces enough chickens to waste some, whereas there aren't enough good vacation houses.

    But, I will point that I was commenting on Trump's decision making abilities. Ignoring decisions that are completely unimportant is a valid strategy.

    Trump has bragged about hiring people who are not of good character in the Art of the Deal. Like, he hired a man with a criminal record to handle the proceeds of his all cash business , and then laughed at the other employees when his criminal manager stole the money collected to buy flowers for a grieving coworker's family. And published it in a book.

    There was a 1500 person non-violent protest. 100 people arrived (from off campus) to riot. There's a difference.

    If someone is a troll, they certainly have the same legal rights to free speech. And no one denied that! It's just not a high bar. I certainly ignore trolls, and encourage society to ignore them, as a rule. And that applies to Michael Moore just as much as Ann Coulter.

    You probably meant don't protest just because someone with a different view comes. Both of the "conservative pundits" in your link are trolls. Protest to avoid feeding the trolls. Do so regardless of party.

    And yes, I changed your quote to the less inflammatory and more accurate verb. Even your link calls it protesting.

    You know you cannot just quit the army, right? I mean, it would be pretty disastrous if the army shrunk by 75% as soon as a war was declared. So you have to commit for N years.

    Your concern about being framed is sweet, but naive. It's communist china. Being a person "we [the government] don't like" is a crime, often a capital one. It's easier to just announce they found evidence while making someone disappear and not expounding on it

    It's already known that amazon have dynamic pricing - it's not a stretch to assume that mechanism could be used for shady reasons.

    Ummm, I'm not aware of a non-shady reason. I suppose fire sales on overstock, but since they are moving away from owning the items in the store, instead just doing fulfillment, even that risk is going away.
