No, I never said that imposing sanctions was unjustified. I am sure that if you condemn an act and you feel you dont want to economically help them or want their help you are completely justified in imposing sanctions, yes, you are not justified in forcing others to impose sanctions against their own will but then I'm sure you will be able to find that justifiable some way or the other.

Look I'm not arguing it from a cold rationalist viewpoint at all, I am agruing it from a moral standpoint. Yes, the firebombing of Tokyo was worse but I still shudder to think of the fact that killing off so many civilians can be justified so easily and coldly. I guess if some cell from somwwhere were to blow a nuke in New York, instead of the planes (I know I struck a nerve there and I apologise for it), it would be O.K. because that would demonstrate their resovle ?

The reason I called it an anti muslim site was mostly cause it's a hindu fundamentalist site, being a hindu I kind of resent the people who take my religion to that fanatical extreme. I live in India by the way, the the whole persecution of hindus at the hand of muslims ermmm.. well lets say its not giving the complete picture. It is also true that Hindus are killing Hindus with each caste the upper and the lower asking for protection from the other side. Now, I'm not against my own religion but I do wish that the people would stop being sooo serious about it.

Why is it that whenever people wish to discredit another religion they link to the most fundamentalist of sites possible, the same thing had happened when this other guy did it for a hindu fundamentalist site, now you are doing it with the christian fundamentalists. I mean seriously, why are you trying to discredit them any ways just like your religion or lack thereof, their religion has its own positives and negatives. Why are you guys bothering to slug it out I dont know, but hey atleast get the facts straight since you pride yourselves on being "rational", "scientific" etc. etc.

Problem is he is right, in electronics which is my field China is far ahead of us, he was just saying that we are ussually kind of confident that China will not be able to overtake us wrt software, but we shouldnt be so smug about it cause during his previous visit to China etc. etc. etc ...

actually you can ship your sick to India, and with the cost of health care there you will most probably end up spending less shipping in, getting the operation and shipping out than you would had you just stuck to America. Yes, you wouldnt get the best doctors there, but then you also dont get the best doctors at each hospital in America so its just about the same.

yeah well, I know this is kindo offtopic and its gonna burn me but they say the same about china overtaking india. I remember my prof. giving me an hour long lecture after this particular lab session that we had fucked up for our research project, that lecture consisted basically of how china is overtaking India, the US anything else and will be ahead of any other nation that youd care to name. I actually wonder about somthing though, does democracy hinder progress ? And about the whole engineers in india thing, it is ussually that the best, the brightest and those who wish to remain engineers rather than become managers are the ones that apply to the US grad schools. I am doing the same thing, one thing I wish though is that it wasnt as damned expensive as it is.

well at the risk of sounding sexist I would tend to agree with the statement above.

if I were to sample the Engineering colleges I have seen, the number of "good looking" female engineers who are good at what they do is almost negligible, the number of "plain" females who are good at it is a little more, but the number of females in engineering pales in comparison to the number of males. And hence arises what we term as the: brains beauty product. Like the gain bandwidth of an amplifier it is constant.

What I am in a very round about manner trying to say is that, yes women do face more problems in engineering, but there arent that many that actually apply for it, if the numbers were even on a 40:60 level I would then say that there is somthing wrong with the system. The numbers are closer to 25:75 in the favour of males, and hence whatever few women there are if even a small percentage of those become the butt of a joke then it seems as though they are being discriminated against.

Like I said this is just my observation, and conclusions I have reached from them.

I remember though school during the 11th and 12th was never a challenge, studying a week or so before the exams would be enough to secure you top marks (no not me I was more of a two days before the exam kinda guy still top 5 isnt bad). But I think that had the pace for the 12th been the same as the pace for JEE, it would have been a lot more interesting then again my younger brother hardly studied (at least not like the ussual expectation) in his 11th and 12th and still managed to get through.
