I emailed the PowerDVD people in July 2001 concerning this product: powerdvd linux Here's the response I got:
Hi Erick,
PowerDVD Linux version is not ready to be released in the retail market for end users. As a result, there is no trial version provided. The pricing model and the schedule is not settled down here and now, so I can't give you a definite answer.
This product is mainly for IA integration at this stage, and may come into the retail market in the future. If you have any other specific question or further interest of this product, please feel free to contact me.
Please, I'm so tired of the whining. I've had a GBA for a while now and the screen is excellent. You use the same light you use for book reading. There are lights available if you need to hide your GBA under your covers past bedtime. I've played for hours at a time and have yet to experience "eyes wearing out". Spare us the bandwagon GBA bashing.
Please seperate whiny Linux kernel comments...

You've all read this before, but that way people who aren't particularly interested in petty whining but are interested in insightful comments can filter away these time wasters.
Every time the GBA is mentioned there is a vocal minority that springs up to badmouth the screen. I really don't get it: Unless you are a little kid trying to play your GBA past bedtime, a reading light/desk lamp/etc is more than adequate. I think the reason you don't hear from the (majority) of people pleased with the GBA's screen is because we are too busy playing Golden Sun to have time to post rants on Slashdot;)
Maybe if you'd stop to think before jerking your knee you'd realize:
Sourceforge is providing a service (hosting, bandwidth, storage space, etc), which costs money. You can't expect a free service to ive you everything you want. Linux is just a piece of software, no "service" is being provided. See the difference, or are your troll blinders on too tightly?
I'm glad to see that some Slashdot readers are able to comprehend that religion (in this case Christianity) does not necessarily exclude evolution as a method for God's creative process.
If you consider yourself even *slightly* intellectual, it's never a waste of time to refute someone based on facts.
You claim that Chomsky is "selective" with his facts, but you are not willing to prove or disprove him? You cannot simply blow off someone of Chomskys caliber: he is an internationally celebrated speaker/author/thinker. Claiming he is a "crackpot" is a serious statement and one that you should back up with substantial proof. Simply saying "other people have done the work for me so I don't have to think" is intellectually lazy.
I don't have a problem with someone disagreeing with Chomsky (or anyone else for that matter), but do the research before forming an opinion. You really owe it to yourself. Maybe you are scared that you might discover Chomsky is right about a lot of things? Don't let your personal bias or preconceived ideas of the "facts" get in the way of discovering the truth. Maybe you should re-read your Slashdot bio...
You didn't even respond to the main point: all of us on the outside are uniformed. Spend less time being defensive and more time analyzing the points being made. I'm willing to entertain reasonable discussion, but childish, offtopic rants like this are a waste of time and bandwidth.
Wow, did I ever say your opinion was wrong? Did I ever say I didn't understand your opinion? Reading your own issues into a comment will only leave you looking paranoid and foolish.
Unless you know the details of Linus' emails to Alan, unless you personally know how Linus interacts with the other developers (hint: you'd have to be a developer to know this), your opinion will always be uninformed.
I'll help you out a little bit:
It's my opinion that the dev model Linus uses works fine. Since I'm not one of his developers, or even remotely involved in the process, my opinion is uninformed and may not be correct.
Unfortunately, in the case of "virii", the only people using it are the pseudo-intellectual Slashdot readers who took a Latin 101 class. Anytime I've seen the plural of virus, be that TV, radio, or a friend talking to me, it's been "viruses." Slashdot geeks (and maybe a few other tech web forums) are the only places I've ever seen "virii."
If you admit to having no involvement in the process, how on earth can you intelligently comment on how that process needs to be improved? Sure you are free to have an opinion, but at least have the maturity to admit that it is an *uninformed* opinion, and leave it at that.
I've been reading slashdot for a long time, and frankly, you're full of crap. Find one lame AC post does not constitute "editorial consent." Get a clue, troll.
Why does Alan owe anyone a reason, especially to some smartass Slashdot reader? If he wants to quit because he disapprovses of AOLs business practices or because AOL gives him a rash, that's his perogative. And I'm sure Alan is not working at RH for peanuts, they are paying him nicely for his expertise.
Seems like the easiest way to get modded up these days is to spout off about the "slashdot hypocrisy," as if the Anti-MPAA and the pro-DVD posts are from the same person. Generalizations like that should be marked (-1, Clueless)

So it doesn't look very promising.
Almost thought that Barbee had been elected as Debian Project Leader...
If the ad had said "Sends other UNIX Boxen to /dev/null." I would have been sold.
But his trolling skills look to be in fine form.
"I applied everything I knew about running a dot-com business and merged it with my passion for fun artillery."
Maybe that's why he's only sold 3 of these so far.
They are asking people to sign up for their service. You give them $5 a month, they give you benefits. How is this a "donation/contribution?"
I'm trying to compile it on a RH6.2 server and getting nowhere. Grrrr.

Thanks for pointing that out! Looks like I'll need to buy some more :cue cats before they are all gone.

Care to back up that claim that Chomsky is "crackpot" with some facts proving this? Please quote sources.
It's a sad day when seemingly intelligent people are so affectly by governmental propaganda to resort to baseless ad hominem attacks.

Is that really so hard to understand?

just tried to download it, but it looks like the intel is really gone :( I wonder if there's anywhere else to download it now...
