I used to work at a precision GPS company, on differential GPS. What they would do is have a 'base station' that would stay in a single spot, and average the position from the GPS signal for a period of time. This is because, due to atmospheric interference, the position 'wobbles'.. Once we have an average position, we use that position to come up with correctors to send to the mobile units (via radio modem usually, though other means are possible). This got us to be on par with what this article is claiming.
I wonder if they account for the 'position wobble' of atmospheric interference. I suspect its possible, as they just pick one position they've received, and use the inertial adjust for the correctors. Not much more work than we were doing.
(I didnt write any of the algorithms or anything, just shuffled data around to different devices and libraries.)
If you're into programming, think about moving into the embedded. I work for an embedded company, and I recently got the company to realize that remote gdb works pretty well.
When your connection is only over ssh, telnet, or *gasp* serial, your old school will be very handy.
For pinball fans that happen to make it to Vegas, there's a pinball 'museum' a few miles from the strip on the Tropicana. Might not be as many machines as this, but fun nonetheless.
I reported a bug *very* similar to this back in Oct, and only now its coming to light? WTF? I submitted this back in january and it was rejected. Ah well. Here's my page on it: http://garion.tzo.com/resume/page2/bind.html
I recently moved cross country for a job six months ago.. (NorthEast to SouthWest)
Insurance... Verify with your home owners/renters insurance that your stuff is covered during the move... My GF's mother is an insurance agent and figured out that the stuff that is offered by the moving company (PODS, decent experience, except that the stuff was late, due to Katrina) was useless.. We then inquired our home owners, and at least with mine, I was covered.. Otherwise... Your stuff may not be covered during the move..
Do not buy a place right away.. Rent first to learn the area... Make it known that you will be renting.. Otherwise everyone and their cousin will be telling that someone they know is a realestate agent in the area you are moving too..
Order of operations... First, fly out there to pick out a house/apartment.. Same trip/Next trip, stay in new apartment, --buy a new bed--.. Its a new start, might as well start over.. Dont go cheap.. Plus if your stuff shows up late, at least you're not sleeping on the floor.. This was our saving grace..
Make sure you get a decent salray adjustment.. You will spend more money than you think on the move, maybe over budget.. I know I did..
Watch some movies through Mythtv or something or other... THen, at some random point in the movie, overlay a dripping blood effect over the movie... Or random "redrum redrum" inserted in to the audio..............
Never tried it, but it sure would be cool......

When there's no Pope, "Pope is Catholic" is not a true statment, now is it?
I want the facial recon to filter out calls.. Kinda like the firefox cookie blocker:
1. Ed calls John. 2. John's phone asks Ed's phone for a picture 3. Ed takes a picture of his face. 4. Ed's phone sends it to John's phone. 5. John's phone does facial recon to determine if his face is in the whitelist, if so, then it rings. 6. Otherwise forward to voicemail automaticly
You could have various settings, like "Theatre mode" where it only rings if that person is on the emergency list.. "Ex-Girl/Boyfiend" mode, where it just forwards to "this number has been disconnected"
I'm a graduate of Morrisville (class of 92!), and I can tell you why students have cell phones... Its in the middle of nowhere.. 20 minutes at 75mph to the nearest McD's.. --Everything-- is a long distance call.. I think you could call Hamilton as a local call, but that was about it. Cazanovia, the nearest decent size town, was long distance..
Of course, when I was there, we didn't have phones provided by the college my first year.. You could get a phone, but you had to order through the local phone company.. You did have pay phones, one or two for each dorm... My second year, the college provided the phones.. Now i know why...
Ah the memories... Pool at Chat and Spew... Beers at the Fort... Of course, NY Pizza was the best pizza in town (I still remember the number! 6849090..).. And damn it, they should have kept the computer room on the 1st level of the library!
Maybe part of it is that people dont want various devices hanging outside their notebook.. Something that slides in, keeps the case smooth, sleek, simple..
Maybe what they reallly need is an insertable USB standard.. Basicly a recessed USB port, with a standard slot.. Then you could have all these slide in USB devices, fully compat with any USB computer.. Any non-slotable device could use inserts that would just make the port be along the edge of the machine (or just use the normal ports?)
Neil Young wrote a song, "This notes for you!" in the 80's about product placement in music... The video was banned from MTV because corporate sponsers raised a fuss..

ANdthere are other places..
My experience with the CF's is that some of them tend to die within six months.. They tend to be the ones shape to look like normal bulbs (like those globe-like bathroom ones..)..
Actaully... My 2004 A4 3.0 Quattro does get 27-29mpg highway... And thats with the extra drivetrain loss from quattro...... So I have no doubt that a 325Ci could get similar, if not better numbers...
I use GAIM under Windows.. ANd I have one annoying "bug"... WHenever someon logs on/off, it flashes the window... No matter what my settings are (don't flash/flash, hide list, etc..)..
I use it since its the only one I can find besides AIM that does the AIM and ICQ folks correctly (Cant get Trillian to see my ICQ friends, when I'm logged into AIM..)..

Dear editors, April Fools is next week.
One of 2 reasons for your accident.
1. You took longer than you think to read the name.
2. You were following too closely.
Answer is most likely 2. People follow MUCH too closely nowadays.

The Apple II was also 6502 based..
And the Apple II pre-dated the C64.. Not sure about Vic20 or Atari's stuff though.
As someone from upstate NY, I can tell you, IR would not work during winters here.. Cars are far too filthy to be able to send/receive via IR..
*sigh*
For those of you who dont get the joke...

There's a difference between a spec and a design..
SPec documents are the "what" the customer wants.
Design documents are the "how"...
