Who really gets paid is not interesting any longer.
The old generation has made it clear they won't budge and give the future a chance.
For christ sake, they bomped around in the 70s while brothers were eating bullets and managed to call it a "revolution" in the 80s while pursuing big money.
Follow your dreams guys, follow your dreams, and save our children.
Just a sec, have to fetch my medicines, be back shortly.
But when the country is China? Come on. China! Like ANYONE or ANY company could get a fair trial there. There are no human rights, what makes you think that large non-govt. corporations will have any?
Oh please. I heard no complaints about the outsourcing to cheapo labour.
Microsoft plays unfair, China plays unfair, China taxes microsoft, microsoft taxes consumer. The game is business, not ethics.
The point being, a particular model from a particular maker may be good quality and worth the money, but you can no longer depend upon branding as a reliable indicator of quality.
Yes, you can. The branding just moved and says: "Made in Japan".
There is no way in hell these people can compete with ATI/NVIDIA. Have you ever been to NVIDIA? Do you have *any* idea how many really smart people they have working on these problems 60 hours a week?
Yes. Yes. The point is AMD, NVIDIA are large corporations with other agenda's than giving these smart people a free card to use their imagination.
Generic products create niche markets. Whole companies exist on this fact and small companies tend to be far more flexible than the huge ones.
Creating a videocard from scratch like this one is already an achievement, and yes, it is highly doubtful it will ever come near competing with NVIDIA/ATI.
I'd guess that the percentage of heavy Linux users who are diehard console gamers is greater than the percentage of heavy Windows users who are diehard console gamers.

Besides that, I'd say the last couple of years have seen a major improvement for X thanks to Keith Packard after years of inactivity at the open group.
Modularization, cairo, etc. etc. The beast that was once difficult to appreciate is now easily
accessible, no more xlib, *aw*, editres.
the new messenger generation will never understand the why of BitchX;-)
There's various incarnations of CORBA on linux, COM on windows, XPCOM which is used for firefox components, DBUS on Gnome and now KDE.
.. and OpenOffice, which also has his own version.
The beauty of SOM/DSOM is/was that it's fast (unlike CORBA), stable, elegant (no dll-hell), well thought-out and very extensible.
I've seen various incarnations of object models in KDE/Gnome alone, why start over everytime and set yourself years back? It took the Gnustep several years to implement an existing standard.
He's trolling. Like, doing autocad with a $5 PS/2 mouse.
This so-called "scam" might arguably apply to Matrox cards once acclaimed w.r.t. 2D, but I haven't had them in years, so cannot provide any details.

Oh please, *everyone* knows males are lousy at multitasking.

In no particular order; fix the bugs, extend functionality, talk with your co-workers. In other words, spend time with the code.
Anything that is larger than 3 pages (requires structure) I do in LaTeX.
