Tell me about it, I'm taking a class atm where we are using Excel over com as a simple database(in VB *shudder*).
This is so incredibly slow that some people have moved the data to xml and then read the files with xml just because it's an incredible speedup.
It takes almost 3 minutes to read 25*51*5=6375 fields. As these are float I assume 2bytes/value which gives a whopping speed of 70 bytes/second.(could be that we are doing something horribly wrong here, maybe someone want to enlighten me, I've never used com nor vb before this, but we're using the way that was presented in the labs)
Atitd is all about figuring things out at the forefront, if you join later you will still be figuring out things at the forefront, just a slightly different one.(especially if you join a guild like some parent poster up the tree suggested)
Disclaimer: I haven't played atitd since the beta(don't have time to do both that an everquest, barely have time for everquest).
The problem with that kind of thinking misses one big point. One of the largest reason people keeps playing mmorpgs is because of the community, ie they get friends on their server. If you are forced to switch server to try something new out it's probably not worth it unless you can convince at least some of your friends to start a new character too.
This hurts anyone that makes friends(or enemies that they love to hate).
Doh! I've been making fun of the fact that they're saying w2k is built on new technology technology for some time now and it appears that they're not...
...they're actually saying windows 2000 is built on NT technology when I boot but it really means it's built on Northern Telecom Technology?
If the xor key was a cookie recipe you could
prolly just mail it and noone would try xoring
the encrypted message with it. Then you just send
different recipes about half a day after sending
each encrypted message( or once every day and use
them just the days you get encrypted stuff).
yeah I know, security through obscurity and all,
but it's fun to speculate =). And if you were
only two peeps using it security through
obscurity could also work. It's just the
obscurity thing that's hard to maintain when the
group gets large.

This doesn't mean that I shoul accept that any jerk treats me like shit(or listen's to private conversation, or whatever)
Just because it traditionally IRC have been easy to spy on IRC users doesn't mean that it should be.

Ehrmm..quick sanity check..do you mean that anything that the big companies and world economy doesn't care about doesn't count? Like, love, sex(except for the sort sold..)friends, to be respected, poverty and so on.
I meant it more in the ironic way: A good reason to choose win2k(meant to be great for servers and so on) is that it's good for games(a much more "non-serious" area). As a matter of fact I can't even get win2k to start on my computer(k6-2 with tnt2 and no "odd" hardware).
Then you might not be building space-going rocket, or shuttles?
The Liquid Hydrogen and Oxygen cost approx. $650,000 per launch of the Shuttle Atlantis quite explosive when the ignition is turned on the Temp is 6,000 Deg Fahrenheit producing 24,000,000 lbs. of thrust from the Morton-Thiokol engines.
Ehh..about the can't use it at tests thingie...as I have understood it, school is there to prepare you for your grown-up life, it's not a goal in itself to have high grades. And, more importantly, your boss will not care if you use this kind of device in your daily work(well, he might if you do representative work). Btw, there's nothing that says that this kind of device has to be visible to the rest of the world.
D*mn, I had to look augmentation up in a real book, Lexin(eng-swe online dictionary) didn't have it..
Is the patented part of RTLinux part of a modified GPL:ed code(I assume so but I'm not that deep into RTLinux)? In that case the matter is quite clear: the patented part is also GPL:ed and he must make it available and anyone may use it as long as they release any modifications under GPL. (heard this before?) The fact that it is patented does not remove the GPL.
