heh. i use the name 'acheron' on most places, just happens that i didn't use it on/. here. i also find myself explaining that charon was on acheron, not styx.:)
Why has the USA refused (AFAIK, the only one to refuse) to sign that protocol/treat that would stablish rules about CO2 production (and other atmospheric emissions) ?
Okay, assuming you're talking about the Kyoto protocol, the only European countries to ratify it were Cyprus and Romania. I realise you're not from Europe, but in general it seems to be Europeans complaining about the US, when none of them have done anything about it either.
1) This board sucks! How am I supposed to connect my [10 year old piece of hardware] when there isn't a [PS2/Serial/Parallel/AT/ISA/Microchannel] [port/slot]?!?!? This can't POSSIBLY be for people building a new computer from the ground up, because, dammit, that's not what I do, so obviously no one else does either! And speaking of [10 year old piece of hardware], aren't I so 1337 for still using it? I thought so.
2) [SCSI/IDE] rocks! [IDE/SCSI] sucks!
3) Natalie Portman pours hot grits down my pants. Can you imagine a Beowulf cluster of these?
>>> I don't fear any counrty that developes it's own nuclear bomb - a cretain amount of civilisation is required in order to achieve such a feat.

"So yeah we'll release it in a pan and scan version and a widescreen version, and then after you get those, we'll release the extra special edition, and then after that we may release it again in a box set, and of course in 20 years we'll release the LOTR:Special Edition, where the Nazgul shoots Eowyn first, and.."
Heh, at least they're not releasing it on VHS only first.
If I can hold out, I want to just wait for the "mega-box" set, but I'll probably end up buying the 4-disc version when it comes out, sigh.
The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring will be released in no less than four versions this year. On 8/6, separate widescreen and pan & scan versions will be released, each a two-disc set with identical extra features. Disc one includes the film presented in English Dolby Digital Surround EX and Dolby 2.0 surround (sorry, no DTS). Disc two is where all the goodies are at, and retail will be $29.95 for either the pan & scan or widescreen editions. The extras to be found on disc 2 include:
3 in-depth documentaries that reveal the secrets behind the production of this epic adventure, including "Welcome to Middle-earth" in-store special as shown by Houghton Mifflin, "The Quest for the Ring" as debuted on the FBC Network, and "A Passage to Middle-earth" as premiered on the Sci-Fi Channel
15 featurettes originally created for lordoftherings.net, which explore the locales and cultures of Middle-earth and include interviews with cast members Elijah Wood, Ian McKellen, Viggo Mortensen, Liv Tyler and others. Exclusive 10-minute behind-the-scenes preview of the next The Lord of the Rings theatrical release, "The Two Towers"
Enya "May It Be" music video
An inside look at the special extended DVD edition of The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring
Preview of Electronic Arts' video game "The Two Towers"
Original theatrical trailers and TV spots
Exclusive online content only available to DVD-ROM users via a special website set to go live on street date Then, on 11/12, New Line will release a mega four-disc set, with a new extended cut of the film created by Peter Jackson himself, and featuring over 30 minutes of additional footage. This cut of the film will be Rated R due to some extended violence, and no retail price has yet been set for this release. The now nearly four-hour film will be spread over the first two discs and presented in 2.35:1 anamorphic widescreen (alas, no sound format information is yet available.) Unfortunately, all the supplements for the 4-disc set are still in production, so final details were not revealed. However, the disc is planned to include 3 audio commentaries and another four hours of bonus material. It is also not yet known if all the features on the "standard" two-disc set edition will also be included here.
Last but not least, New Line is also planning on release a special limited edition gift set of the 4-disc set, with two bookend statuettes by sculptor Sideshow Weta, the National Geographic "Beyond The Movie" DVD, and several collectible Decipher game cards. There were also rumors floating around that after all three films are done and released, a fifth mega-box set of all three with possible additional material may be released, which would be sometime in 2004.
I like webmail. I can check it from any computer without any hassle at all. I used to use usa.net, then they started charging, so I switched to yahoo and have been very happy with them. I have a nice email address with my college, and I also run my own mail server even for my domain, but those both just forward into the yahoo account, so I can read all my mail at once, again from anywhere with no hassle.
Honestly... people are playing pirated copies of the War3 beta which they couldn't do without bnetd. This is a fact. Bnetd also allows people to play pirated D2 or Starcraft or whatever online as well. They use CD keys for a reason, so people have to buy their games if they want to play on their server. Makes sense to me. And it works too. Sure, there are key generators for the older games, but those aren't very reliable from what I've heard.
So you can't play your w4r3z anymore. Don't bitch at Blizzard about it, go buy the damn game.
(I fully expect a -1 troll for this, but so it goes.)
I bought a CD burner the other day (finally joining the modern computer era, I guess). First CD I burnt was a 4.4-RELEASE install disc. Wiped out my router/firewall/etc (which was running 4.3) and reinstalled 4.4 from scratch (needed to redo partitions).
no no no. they needed *something* to keep the whales in. all they could get was plexiglass. they had no money to pay for the plexiglass. so they gave the guy the forumla for transparent aluminum in exchange for the plexiglass. the factory didn't suddenly start churning out sheets of transparent aluminum (the guy says something like "it would take years to figure out blah blah blah" to which scotty says "yeah but you'll be wicked rich").
Make that national as long the broadband will not reach Europe, Australia, Asia and all the other continents... USA alone is not the world.
Anyway, a real universal broadband would be cool.
Make that 'Earthly' as long as the broadband will not reach Ganymede, Alpha Centauri, the Andromeda galaxy, and all the rest of the universe... Earth alone is not the universe.
Why bother with the latter if you can have near perfect sound quality and a near perfect materialisation of your musical vision at a tenth of the cost?
Possibly, because people actually like playing guitar? And also, most people I know like the sound of a guitar as opposed to computer generated beeps.
Not that I'm against techno or electronica or whatever you want to call it, but, honestly, some people don't like it.
Listen to what you like. I don't care how much the RIAA sucks, I'm not going to buy techno just to spite them, because I can't stand to listen to it.
Oh, and if I may insert a plug, if you like acoustic guitar stuff, try Howie Day... I just got his first album (independently released) and it is really good. Lots of trading of live shows goes on as well, those are excellent too. Sorta like Dave Matthews (though I am not a big DMB fan at all, I like maybe one or two songs), or old Vertical Horizon (before they were snapped up by a major label), or maybe kinda like David Gray, too.
Most interesting thing so far is a Logitech cordless keyboard and cordless optical mouse. Also an independent CD, various clothes, money, etc. My sister and I gave our parents a DVD player.
Yes you better crack down on the CCC right now! Hey, how the hell did you post that if the network is a peice of crap? Don't you pay attention, WPI wins awards for it's network. If you kill 15 of your Porn Divx downloads and 20 movie transfers, then convince your little freshman buddies to do the same... The other guy down the hall *just might* have the ability to do some academic work using the network. Don't want to start a flame war, but you would be hard pressed to find a better group of NetOps.
1) I'm not on campus.
2) I don't download movies, nor did I even when I was on campus.
3) I am not a freshman (see point 1, combined with WPI's policy that freshman have to live on campus).
4) I don't want to start a flamewar either.
5) I'm sure they're a bunch of great guys.
6) But, they've just pissed me off too many times. In fact, they are a reason (not an especially major one, but a reason nonetheless) for point 1.
7) My original post was mostly a joke anyway. Next time I will be sure to put a:) afterwards so as to not confuse anyone.
Never heard of flac, but an SHN player would be nice. heh.
Though I suppose the point of lossless formats is mostly to download and then burn, so an SHN player would be sort of redundant.
Hobbes: "Well what would *you* call the creation of the universe?"
Calvin: "The Horrendous Space Kablooie!"
Which is probably why Tom Clancy chose an unnamed Japanese Coproration as the McGuffin [amazon.com] for Executive Orders. [amazon.com]
I think you mean Debt of Honor. DoH was about the Japanese; EO was about.. um.. Iran becoming the "United Islamic Republic".

I already wanted to see this movie, but that definitely makes me want to see it even more.
mm... kirsten dunst, wet shirts......um... i gotta go...

You're lucky. I have a choice of ONE cable company, and ZERO DSL companies. And my cable company is TW.
I'm definitely looking forward to this. *rolleyes*

Texas, Mongolia, same difference.
Anyone else reminded of Lucas?

Still OT, but FYI there are five oceans, Atlantic, Pacific, Arctic, Indian, and Southern.
Still no Hindi Ocean though.

bahaha... I burst out laughing at that, thanks. :)
The last time I used anything like it was on ISCA.
Another ISCA user? Wow. By the way you said that, I assume you don't use it anymore, though. Still, cool to find someone else.
Though I never did use X-messages on ISCA very often, but I use AIM all the time now.

Folks seem to forget that the killer app for Windows 3.1 was not Doom, it was Excel.
:)
I agree with your main point, but Doom was definitely a pure-DOS game.

right, they measured the lens in inches, but the windshield wiper in centimeters, so it's too small to wipe everything off.
