I just read _Hyperion_ and _The Fall of Hyperion_ recently.. I enjoyed them greatly. Especially since I was already a fan of John Keats. There are so many books that I want to get, but _Endymion_ is definitely on that list.:)
I was wondering when someone would bring up the Mars trilogy. Excellent excellent books. Some people don't like all the political stuff, I guess, but I thought it was intriguing, and seemed fairly realistic.. if people now could break away and start their own society "from scratch", the Martian society described by Robinson is a very credible possibility. Some of the "capitalism == evil" bits were somewhat annoying, but I don't have to agree with the book to be entertained by it.:)

well, some people did anyway, there were those that couldn't be dragged away from the computer room with wild horses. but not everyone was a pale weak supernerd.

*thank you*. I wish I could mod you back up, you're already marked as troll. But you've hit the nail on the head with that post, and I wish more people would realise it.
I *still* like my nice packaging and nice looking CDs, rather than a CDR with "Bob the Box - I Like Potatoes" or whatever written on it with a Sharpie.
Also, as other people have commented, the whole "album filler" thing seems a bit off to me. In general, my CDs have one or two songs I don't like, or even songs that suck, but those are the minority.. I don't get the "one song rocks, everything else sucks" thing.
And even if you could weed out the songs that suck, how would you know which ones suck and which ones don't, unless you already know them? Many times the best songs are the ones that hit me suddenly after weeks or months or years of having the album, and never really noticing it before, and suddenly, bam, wow, that song rocks, why didn't I notice it before?
well, that's just my 2 lire (I don't presume to think that my opinions are worth as much as $0.02..;) )
Consoles are good for : fighting games, sports games, racing games... that's about it really. Some people swear by Goldeneye and its clones, but.. FPSs are made for a mouse, no console controller will ever be as good.
As for this type of third person thing.. some people have been comparing to MGS, but I've never played that, so I can't say. I trust Blizzard to make a good game though. (I still would have loved to have gotten to play Warcraft Adventures..)
As long as they don't fuck up and release only on the XBox. I have a lot of friends with consoles, *none* of them have an XBox, or even remotely considered getting one when they were deciding which to buy. I guess *someone* must be buying them, since games are apparently still coming out, but I don't know who. (Possibly this is the same phenomenon as the fact that no one I know uses anything but AIM for instant messages, but apparently there are lots of people that use the Microsoft and Yahoo ones..)
Anyway, my personal preference is Gamecube over PS2, but the PS2 isn't too bad either.
Of course as other people have mentioned, the actual time until it's released will be whatever they've announced times 3 (at least), so by the time it's out, we'll be up to PS4.:p

I mean, that Avril worked her way up through the ranks of the music business. She started off singing at local clubs with a band, and then she got her big break. Oh wait...my bad. She was most likely picked out of a pool of 300 other teenage girls.
actually, she did work her way up singing at clubs and so on. nice try though.

tell me that hobbyists can't make games with as much quality and well-done graphics as the pros.
Um, okay. Well, I can't tell quality from a screenshot, obviously, and I won't contradict you there (mmm... Nethack...) but as for graphics, that screenshot looks about 10 years old. *shrug*
I know graphics aren't really the measure of how good a game is, but you can't stand there and say that 'hobbyist' games have just as good graphics as professional games. Well, you can, but I won't believe you. Not without proof anyway.
I really wish I had artistic talent enough to volunteer for some of these projects that have great gameplay etc but just need overhauling in the graphics department. But I don't, so.
Newsflash: DSL is not available in all areas. There are many places (for example, where I am right now in northeast Ohio) where cable is the only choice for broadband connection.
Mostly I agree with your post though. But "dude just get DSL" is not always a possibility.
It's seems to me like a good way for keeping away idiots from buying cool cars like this beamer.
I have a friend who is a BMW fanatic. He insists that 'beamer' should only be used for BMW motorcycles, and the correct term for a BMW car is a 'bimmer'.

large groups of people enjoyed "dude where's my car"?
you must have a new definition of "enjoy" that i wasn't aware of.
There's an old Dave Barry column, about "closed captioning for the humor impaired". You should possibly look into it.
Here's a hint: IT WAS A JOKE.
ok, I swear I thought that said "anus glasses".

That is, presuming you can find an 18-year-old college coed who's still shy, sweet, or innocent.

Oh, yeah, cause right between the adulterers and the murderers we have a spot for anti-trust violators.
Probably in the new 10th circle.
I really don't like my periodic table, but I can't afford one that's around all the time, so periodic will have to do.
