I see alot of people saying that the language doesn't matter to learn CS. But how can one fully understand how programming works if they don't understand pointers, references, and heap memory (c/c++)?

Get a nintendo ds and put dslinux on it. Then you can use any text based pdf viewer and any text based web browser. It is pretty awesome and it can really turn heads
I agree. I am needing to build a new system so my grandma can play her solitaire games and check email. I was going to use AMD because it is cheaper but since the i7 is a better performer I am going to use that.
TV is such a waste. I would rather spend my time playing with linux or playing on the piano or learning about Jesus. All these things will advance me in life. Watching stuff like this will hold me back in life.
I agree. As a liberal I am immune to all indoctrination. When my friends cheer for obama I cheer for obama. When my friends demand pro-choice, I demand pro-choice. When I watch a prime time show that depicts christians as anti gay hate mongers, I except this as fact and not entertainment. When obama says we need to close gitmo I cheer even though I have no idea how the US got land in cuba. When I hear someone talking about obama in a crowd, I approach them and start flaming bush, then I will have new friends and we can talk about the latest iPod accessories and today's hot music on Mtv.
I feel the same way, I don't care that obama is a black man with a taste for materialism. I don't care that he attended an american college that classified him as a foreign student. I don't care that he told me that he would end wiretapping but then instead now promotes it. I don't care that he said he would not tax employee health benefits but now he is. I don't care that he said he would end the war but instead has started another one in afgan. I don't care that he blames the collapse of the economy on bush even though bush (and clinton) tried to better regulate the sub prime mortgage brokers. All I care about is that we don't have any evil evil republicans in office. I don't know why I hate them. I don't really think about it. All my friends hate them though so it helps me fit in better. And telling people that I voted for obama helps me make new friends, kinda like myspace. Its pretty cool I think.
Follows, I have been using emule for many years now but I have noticed that more and more I am having to use bit torrent to get the stuff that I am looking for. How ever, bit torrent really seems to suck. So many torrents loose all of their seeds and then can never be downloaded. It is very hard to share files on bit torrent since you have to collect the the files together, then make a torrent file and figure out what tracker to send it to. Why can't it just be like emule where you just dump everything into one folder (or heck just share C:\). And constantly I am seeing these trackers get shut down. Why does bit torrent seem to suck so much for me? Are there better tracker sites that I just don't know about?

I am the opposite. Linux for me, and Linux for grandma. Now when I visit her for christmas, I don't spend my holiday time reinstalling windows.
