I'm willing to bet you can build all the parts strong enough for 50 shots no problem.
As someone who was recently involved with laser 3D printing of metal parts, I must say that firing even ONE round with such a rifle would be hazardous. The barrel must survive a sudden increase in pressure, which easily exceeds 1000 atm. You will blow off your face if you're lucky, have barrel shards embedded in your brain or neck if you're not.
The others have already decided to make smart watches! Samsung may be late to the party, but most others aren't - if anything, it is Apple that is trailing, together with Samsung.
This makes me suspect that Apple deliberately started rumors that they were working on a "smartwatch" simply to trick other companies into wasting effort into actually developing such a useless product.
You mean, after half a dozen companies already released specs for or working Android-based smart watches?
You Apple fanbois truly, honestly believe that Apple invented every fucking thing in tech and beyond. There were smartphones before Apple "invented" them, there were MP3 players before Apple "invented" them, there was even slide-to-unlock before Apple "invented" it. FTFS!
Wow, now it's fast enough to run Crysis 3! Oh wait...that's right, it's a phone. Apps are written for the slowest Android devices for the biggest marketability so that speed means nothing and does nothing but waste battery life. Maybe it can process photos faster with a built-in app or something faster but who cares? Most people run 3rd party apps the vast majority of the time. I would much, much, much rather see a doubling of the battery life than a doubling of the processor speed.
Samsung claims the SIV has best-of-breed voice control. What they demoed looked very impressive, even though it might have been staged (indeed, it happened on a stage:D ). Regardless of whether the SIV demo was staged or not, the fact remains that good voice recognition requires a lot of processing power. Bear in mind that the voice recognition process must run in parallel to whatever app is being controlled, so more cores can come in handy.
Yes, but he still gets the "pay over time", just from some other company, because he's a member of the endlessly rotating pool of CxO/Director/Board Members.
Exactly. CxOs aren't particularly talented or possess any skill that would be useful for companies - they have connections and belong to an elite.
Something is definitely broken with Google Doc's support of Open Document file formats: I just tried to upload an.odt file to Google Drive, and the fucker insists on converting the file instead of leaving well alone.
This becomes hugely annoying if your.odt file is larger than 2 MB, because then Google Docs refuses to upload it, since it "cannot" convert a file larger than 2 MB. FTFS!
Sarah Brightman is primarily a classical music singer. Though her large fortune and fame come from her pop-ification of the more famous classical pieces.
Google could have kept the content created by tens of thousands of volunteers, as static pages. OK, so no more updates to Knol, no more content editing or adding, but Google could have kept it as static content for nearly no cost. Maybe add some adlinks to make it marginally profitable.
* Locking the Nexus homescreen to portrait is idiotic. Really.
Not a problem since 4.1.2
MTP looks great on paper, in practice it is dog slow and buggy. Back to the drawing board please.
I have to admit, I had nothing but grief because of MTP. It works with my Windows 7 laptop, but not with any other of my computers. And even when it works, it works poorly.
you sound like you are equating loving your child with giving a gift. They are most certainly not the same thing, and in fact one has nothing to do with the other. And unfortunately, as the GP was referring to, too often the former is used as a substitute for the latter.
You know what? Take that straw man and shove it up your ass.
In Israel right now there is a law banning thin models. To protect the feelings of the whales.
I was in Israel for a couple of weeks, and didn't notice any land whales. I'd say Israelis are rather healthy-looking, both Jews as well as Arabs.
But I did see land whales each of the three times I visited the US. It was the first (and so far, only) time in my life that I could behold examples of morbid obesity.

SuSE has still the best hardware detection and fool-proof installation system of all distros - yes, even better than Ubuntu and Ubuntu derivatives.
In addition to this, SuSE comes with one of the best KDE experiences out of the box. If you're familiar with Windows, you will be familiar with KDE.
That's sexually offensive to that cunt Florian. For shame!
Yes, I fully expect to be twattered around, for this.
Suck my big dongle.
Tools for protecting our privacy?
Actually, Google does make a tool for protecting our privacy: it's the Incognito window in Chrome.
Lenovo just sold me a $1900 ThinkPad Carbon X1 Touch with a bad display, and they knew it.
Could you tell me more about this?

SO what's the killer app for increased CPU?
On the fly translation of spoken language, for one.

It's actually been quite a while since I've seen a webpage quite as long as the list of experiments they've carried out
That's because NASA isn't breaking articles up into pages to increase impressions.
A large amount of frappuccino left my body through my nostrils.

attempts at preserving the last surviving Passenger Pigeons in the late 1800s failed because these birds only breed in extremely large groups
Mother Nature fucked up, there. Breeding only when in large groups? That's a weak point.
The voice translator is pretty sweet, I think. That and the full voice control (if they are any good) will make it a hot item for a lot of people.
And I definitely can see myself using the feature of storing sound with pictures.
Indeed - I made the (wrong) assumption we've been talking about the Nexus 7. A huge number of my friends has it, and so do I. My bad for ass-u-ming.
I'll keep an eye on them. Thanks for the heads-up.
Those Zumwalt destroyers are super-interesting, too, but as you said, who knows whether they'll come to completion.

The biggest pricks of the sea are now heavily armed, sex-crazed, mutated, and radioactive.
I don't think humans are mutated and radioactive. The rest of your statement is valid, though.

But, carry on.
I thought rail guns are still very much in the development/early testing stage. Nowhere near deployment...?
I beg to differ. Parenting is about teaching, not catering.
Parenting is both about teaching and loving your child. A child that is loved, grows up into a self-confident adult.
Also, a child that is loved has a nice childhood. Life isn't only about preparing for the next step - sometimes you live in the here and now.
