Miles Per Gallon is useful if you need to know how far you can get with the fuel that you have. While that's important, I think the real reason we're interested in this car is because of the fuel efficiency, which is conveyed much better if it's put in Gallons Per Mile. Knowing how much fuel you use per mile is what we're really interested in anyway, and MPG is misleading when representing that.
Not sarcastic, just pointing this out to the parent poster, who seems to think that the power will be generated on the kite and transmitted to down the "electric line" to the ground. Apparently a common misunderstanding, judging by the +5 Insightful mod.
A kite which can support a 30,000 foot electric line? I'm thinking there are some serious engineering challenges there. Probably involving unobtanium and other exotic materials.
I think it would be more reasonable to generate the electricity on the ground, using tension in the wire from the kite.
Careful with "purpose" -- Evolution is non-teleological, and "purpose" has no place in evolutionary explanations.
Not disputing you, but is evolution really not teleological? I hadn't heard that before. I mean, is this a scientifically vetted point, or a reaction against creationism?
That is interesting. USB 3 could be a chance to start over and start writing drivers for every single USB 3 device as it comes out. It would need some organization, a single location for anyone to submit devices, and lots of work, but it could totally happen.
I haven't seen any USB 3.0 devices for sale yet. I suspect that they won't appear until sometime after Windows and Mac support USB 3. So, as cool as this is, there is no need to rush off and implement it on your own now. You can wait until your next kernel update.
I think the base of the problem is that people assume you're a super-human nerd-god who can conjur the computing magic and fix everything perfectly in a second (like they do on TV!)
It's all about prevention. Before they say a single word, you have to show them you are weak, vulnerable, and human, just like them. An amazingly good way to show that you don't know is to ask them a question, as if they know as much as you. Now how to do this and keep up the balance between that and seeming professional is maybe a tough task. You don't want to look like you don't know what you're doing. Then again, it's all the more impressive when a mere mortal solves a problem that everyone understands is difficult.
But because these are free software, it's more likely that someone has looked over the source code for you.
There is a big difference between "free" and "open source." All virus are free, but there are only a few that are open source, and those are jokes, plus, you know what it does before you install it.
To me, the Circuit City brand represents high prices and bad service. I don't understand why anyone would want the Circuit City name. It's tainted.
Because it's better than the Tiger Direct brand name. For example, Dell just sued Tiger Direct for selling used and refurbished Dell laptops as "Brand New."
That's really scary! A line of cracks sounds like the entire wing is bent, not just surface damage caused by hitting a bird or something. How are they going to be able to tell if the inside of the wing is fractured? The tiles could be in perfect condition, but the wing could snap off during re-entry!
Even better. Someone should set up a PHP script sending out emails which appear to come from kfiori@santarosa.edu or mrudolph@santarosa.edu. Just brute force to all of the santarosa.edu domain, with an email "clarifying" the previous emails: what they had meant to do was *encourage* the use of SRJC in emails, to avoid confusion.
I invite people to down rate it in mozilla.org and uninstall it from their computers. In the FOSS world the only way to vote is with your feet.
Agreed. Also may I suggest giving it low ratings in the "trustworthiness" and "vendor reliability" categories of WOT and leaving a negative comment on the WOT noscript page with a "Malicious Content" or other descriptive tag.
Pff. You aren't really cloud computing until you replace your processor calculations with background javascript running in the browsers of visitors to your website.
In my experience, when the internet is slow or a server is having problems, the webpage takes longer to load. It doesn't affect anything outside the browser, and my other programs remain "unfrozen."
I don't think that proves it's a bot. That sounds about how I would answer. Actually, I had a friend do this to me once and I nearly refused to answer his question because it seemed so paranoid.

3 abandoned mines? 4?
send complaining emails to the webmaster.
noscript has lost my trust forever and i won't ever use it again.
ha!

you jerk...
My employer has similar rules, and every weekend they send out an email saying if your food does not have a name and date it will be thrown out.
However, they proceed to throw everything out, regardless of whether or not it has a name or date, regardless of the date.
No, it's an example of speculation. Jumping to conclusions would be if I said:

brownouts that will freeze their computers

I accidentally modded parent redundant... meant to mod interesting or insightful, so I'm commenting to erase it.
I see thousands of new domains appearing like these:
-http://www.paypal.cÃm/
Actually, the more I think about it, most people would even be duped by
-http://www.paypal.secure/
We can look at these domains and see why they are bad immediately. But imagine when *valid* sites start using domains like
-http://secure.banking/
then even those of us who would have been able to spot a phony URL instantly are going to be confused.
There needs to be a gigantic "FUCK YOU, LEAVE ME ALONE, LET ME SURF THE WEB AS THE FLYING SPAGHETTI WEASEL INTENDED" button in the settings.
There is.
In about:config, change browser.urlbar.maxRichResults to -1
