I doubt it will pull any appreciable numbers away from WoW.
For one thing, there's a large number of WoW gamers that aren't traditional geeks, and wouldn't be interested in something as "nerdy" as a Star Trek MMO (I know, I know, but they insist that WoW isn't geeky), and a great percentage that are dorks, but are fantasy dorks.
Then there's people like me, who just think that the design decisions they've made sound boring.
But it's factually wrong based on a definition that was just decided upon in part to remove Pluto from planetary standing.
Not to mention that it was decided by less than 300 Scientists. Statistically, that's barely anecdotal evidence. The sample really is too small, like Pluto itself.
They were not, by any stretch of the imagination, "working on Leopard." If one were part of the Leopard project, one would be authorized to use Leopard. These five employees essentially stole from their company. Admitting their guilt or not, firing employees involved in theft is standard policy at every company I've ever worked for.
Am I the only who noticed "his grades seem still to be unaffected?"
If he is successfully keeping his grades up, and doing his chores, does it really matter that he's spending his free time playing a video game? Yes, he's skipped school and held all-nighters playing the game, but I did those things at that age, and my mom would have been overjoyed if I had merely been sitting in my room arguing over who got to skin the [Pristine Hide of the Beast]. And if you're worried that he won't develop socially, perhaps you should consider that he's actually doing something MORE social than your nights playing Test Drive and programming in Pascal.
In the first film he plays the announcer at the wrestling match. In the second he's the doorman at MJ's (hideous) stage version of The Importance of Being Earnest.
Do you really think that if gay marriage was legalized that suddenly every straight male and female would say "Gosh! Why should I bother marrying someone of the opposite sex? I can be GAY now!"??
Nope, me either.
And honestly? The world could do with a few more people ignoring their basic biological drives, overpopulation is far more detrimental to society (and the Earth itself) than some ill-conceived homosexual menace.
I haven't bought nearly as many games in the time I've been playing World of Warcraft.
The time I have that can be allotted to video games is simply taken up. That doesn't mean I'm not spending just as much money on games now as I used to, just that all my money's going to Blizzard, rather than being spread out.
WTF did your title have to do with anything or than to imply your holier than thou dismissal of a group of people for allegedly generalizing something based solely off of its popularity...
Did you not do pretty much the same thing based on skewed generalizations?
Besides, I thought it was in to bash emo kids now, not goths.
The fact that iTunes existed for years in a state very similar to the one it exists in now, before the iTunes Music Store existed... Well, don't let that mess with your argument at all.
The fact that you can use iTunes (and the iPod) to listen to both mp3 and non-Fairplay enabled AAC files... neither of which are "drm laden," yeah, that doesn't matter either. There's nobody putting a gun to your head and telling you that the only thing you can listen to with iTunes is music bought from the online store. In fact, I have over 1000 cds ripped to my iTunes, and they all work just fine with my iPod. And my cell phone. And my car's cd player when I burn mix CDs. Huh.
Also, if you're modding in this thread, you shouldn't also be posting. It pretty much removes any credibility you have, if you to argue your point while simultaneously attempting to make sure dissenters aren't heard.
This doesn't actually mean anything relevant to the current conversation.
All this says is that the MEDIUM changes. The language itself, and the ability for a person to appropriately and effectively communicate concepts and ideas, has nothing to do with whether it is written on bark, slate, or paper, written with chalk, pencil, or pen.

You mean "inaction" figures. They're gorgeous plastic statues. ;P
"to build their own world, including a new playable race - the Warforged"
That implies to me that they "built" the new playable race themselves.

Isn't calling it the GNU GPL kind of like calling it an ATM Machine?
The GNU's already extant. We don't need to keep concatenating it onto the beginning of everything.

And at least it's not Myspace.

Depends on where they're from. I know a girl from Quebec who speaks English with a VERY heavy accent.
She sounds like a French version of Bjork. It's really quite adorable.
The article is about a MICROPHONE that picks up the vibrations from your jawbone.
It has nothing to do with your hearing.
Er, that was supposed to be "I <3 zombies."
I 3 zombies!
Oh... JOHN Romero... Nevermind.

Oooh, Andy Prieboy.
Tomorrow Wendy is probably one of the most beautiful songs recorded in the last 30 years, especially when Johnette sings it.

They genetically engineered Serpentor, not Cobra Commander. :P
Unless of course he has multiple Slashdot accounts. It all depends on how far he's willing to go to be "right."

Are you kidding? You get to play a ZOMBIE! That's how they're going to make it interesting.
I want to preorder this. Now.
I call dibs on the name "Bub."
Don't say the "zed" word, Ed.
It's their legs. They just creep me out, man.
