That was a rhetorical question, right? I thought the main focus of business in general was to bamboozle us with marketing nonsense until we just hand over our wallets in surrender. Look at how many models of an electronics manufacturer's audio receiver there are, or different models of TV with minor feature differences. Electronics manufacturers count on our ignorance and inability to understand the differences from one model to the next so they can manipulate price points without having to justify to the consumer the outrageous margins. If your initial post isn't mod'd flamebait, this one is sure to be. But then I've given up trying to appease the bleeding heart liberal pantywaists that frequent these comment pages. Suck it Trebek!

And what does any of this have to do with the story? If your post isn't trolled then someone isn't doing their job. English is one of the two (French) truly internationally recognized languages with Spanish being the third. Speaking Spanish would be fine, but who in their right mind outside of France and Quebec wants to have French as their first language? I think homogenization of the world's languages is a good thing. Cultural differences be damned. It's why the world is in the shape it's in. Once the world has homogenized completely you won't see the kinds of conflicts we have today and wars will be passé. Besides, that was a dumb ass movie and you should be embarrassed by referencing it.

Huh?? Did you think of that??? I didn't think so. A couple things. MS Outlook doesn't exist for OSX and Entourage sucks as a business email app. As a book cover designer I use templates from the printer that they create in Excel and a couple of them don't work on the Mac due to macros that we can only get to work on the PC Excel for some reason. The printer's tech support is supposed to be looking into it, but this has been going on for a long time now. AA's do stuff with MS Publisher that we don't have on the Mac that I have to PDF for them. I just got my new Macbook Pro 15" yesterday and loaded it up with CS2 and 3, Quark, Freehand, Suitcase, Pitstop, etc. It's one helluva machine, but I'm writing this on my Dell. My wireless connection works much better on this than on the Macbook. Maybe it's because I have an older router, but again, the Dell works great and is only 6 months old itself. Anyway, I like Macs for what they do best. For everything else give me Windows.

I think you're being a bit naive to think that everyone thinks that all cable has to provide is "crappy programming" in between ads. I watch HD movies (all premium with no ads), sports, Discovery channel and National Geographic with limited commercial interruptions if any at all, all in HD on a 47" 1080p LCD that is simply breathtaking as far as TV goes. Maybe your paycheck allows you the luxury of a screening room and access to everything in HD, but there a a small percentage of us out here who can only afford the maximum number of cable or satellite channels on a measly 47 inches of (now) low tech LCD screen. Forgive us our transgressions, but I LOVE Planet Earth, Sunrise Earth, American Chopper, and every movie on HBO, CinemaX, and Showtime in lovely HD and in fantastically produced audio through my lowly ONKYO 7.1 THX system. Forgive us for our suffering of HD cable or satellite, but it's all we have. I'm a very happy subscriber of the criminal entity Comcast. I recognize cable as the monopoly it is, but until something else comes along and provides the same HD service and channels for less money, I'll be feeding the beast.

Yeah yeah, glory daze I know, but what a heady time to be a new user. About 300-400 per year. myself and we have 5 designers doing this every day and I'm the administrator for the group, so I have a lot of experience using a Mac. Everything in that article is 100% spot on and confirms my belief that Macs are perfect for graphic design/typesetting work and to supplement certain other professional workflows, but as a stand alone machine for multiple business uses it sucks. The article plainly spelled out the difference between a regular Mac and Mac pro as far as hardware upgrades and compatibility. For these exact reasons I use a PC at home (I own 3 of them plus a Windows laptop) and for the exact reason I stated above I just purchased a Macbook Pro to be able to do some work at home and help with some freelance stuff I do to supplement my paycheck. I would never consider using a Mac as a full time machine and I like the dang things! They have their niche and until Stevo decides to let people decide what kind of box they want to use OSX on that's all they'll have is a niche. It's downright ridiculous how they hamstring you into their hardware, and sometimes crap hardware at that. It's just bad business. So, it would seem to me that you are the troll in this particular scenario sir since, in my opinion, the article's tone and review are dead-on-balls accurate. It's an industry term.

I was in a working cover band for 6 years. The guitar player bought every CD that we borrowed a song from and the guitar sheet music (basically the book for the album) for him to learn the song. The rest of us listened to the individual songs to learn our parts (I was the singer so I just needed to memorize the lyrics - which happen to be all over the internet and also in the guitar book). Why is this not an option now? I can see if the sheet music for a song you want to play isn't available for purchase, but other than that isn't the whole point of having music published so that you can make money from other people wanting to play it? Maybe I'm wrong. If so, please correct me.
