the world of the electron and the switch, the
beauty of the baud. We make use of a service already existing without paying
for what could be dirt-cheap if it wasn't run by profiteering gluttons, and
you call us criminals. We explore... and you call us criminals. We seek
after knowledge... and you call us criminals. We exist without skin color,
without nationality, without religious bias... and you call us criminals.
You build atomic bombs, you wage wars, you murder, cheat, and lie to us
and try to make us believe it's for our own good, yet we're the criminals.
Yes, I am a criminal. My crime is that of curiosity. My crime is
that of judging people by what they say and think, not what they look like.
My crime is that of outsmarting you, something that you will never forgive me
for.
I am a hacker, and this is my manifesto. You may stop this individual,
but you can't stop us all... after all, we're all alike.

It's a complete waste of time. Notes are useless after the course is done. I kept mine for 10 years after I graduated, then tossed them. Textbooks are of some use. Cheat sheet were the most useful. If you MUST write notes digitally, the just put a number for the equation. Then write the equation down on a piece of paper, and type it out later. Or have some generic equations pre-written in another file, crtl+c, crtl+v. Honestly, in 10 years or less you will find that all your typing was a complete waste of time.
Vegas is an illusion of wealth.. except for top casino execs (and possible shareholders). As a player, if you actually manage to win, you're banned from playing. Cheaters have used tech to steal from casinos. Now the casinos are using tech to stop "cheating". Card counting is viewed as cheating b/c it has the potential, if done properly, to give the player the advantage. Thus, taking money from the casino.
Read TFA. Second, does anyone have a link for the wavelengths of EM radiation that reach the surface of the Earth? The article talks about making the black hole sensitive to light (presumably visible), but is that really necessary? Is the intensity of visible light much higher than other wavelengths. Of course this could simply be a case for making the article more layman friendly.
There is a stuffed giant eagle suspended above a great moa in Te Papa Museum in Wellington. The caption for the eagle said that mothers had to watch for the eagles, as any baby left unattended could be carried away. If this is the same bird, then this is common knowledge.
80% efficiency looks good on paper. However, will energy stay cheap such that one can accept a reduced efficiency? This would work wonders on large scale. Electric cars that don't need a huge battery packs. Just some ultra caps..
Maybe charge for access (subscription). Or charge a flat rate for posting, and then the owner can set the price. Eventually, owner will want to profit from their code. It would be better to have this infrastructure in place now. Rather than scrambling to build it later.
I just go a flyer from Rodgers yesterday for wireless internet. I haven't looked into it. The flier says packages start at $25/month, and speeds are up to 7.2Mbps. A 7.2Mbps connection for $25.month would be awesome, but not likely. Too bad.
"The maggot hatches and eats away juicy tender delicious ant brain until the ant is nothing more than a zombie that wanders around for two weeks before the head falls off and the ant dies" I knew a few co-workers who were like that. ~:-)

When I send a letter through snail mail, I hand deliver it. It's not like I use a 3rd party like the POSTAL SERVICE!

It's already public knowledge! I thought you could patent something that was already known to the public.

"next generation Sun supercomputer kitted out with 12,000 cores." Can it run Crysis with full eye-candy?
Phone companies are not going to give you a free or discounted phone if they have not recouped the cost of your "old" phone. duH!

Do HDD manufacturers still use glass platters. I thought they all switched to Aluminum.
Hopefully, they can get away from glass, and use something less fragile.
