Ditto there. My main char (level 45, for the record) has almost 10 days of play time, and I have three alts with 5 - 15 hours each on them. I've never been so into a game, and I never thought I would be. It's just a great game though.

Either way, I will be putting a lot more into the system than I will ever get out of it. At least with W's plan I have *something*. FDR really managed to screw us over. I believe you're wrong about central servers being the most populated too. The last time I looked, all the most populated servers were east coast servers. Why? Because in every Blizzard game, everyone always plays on east coast servers. Why? Don't ask me. I live on the east coast, so I suffer for it.

Here's what happened to my WoW Guild: Opening day over lunch I hit the mall, hurry home, register an account, log in, and check out the server list. I pick the only East Coast PVP server with a low population, post it to the guild website, tell it to my coworkers who play, email people etc. When I get home from work at approximately 5:30, there's a huge queue to get on the server. And the queue only gets longer as the night progresses. The server is Mannoroth, which according to wowcensus.com is the sixth most populated server. Fortunately we haven't had too much unscheduled downtime. Lots of lag though in major cities. And a massive raid on Undercity took down the entire server saturday night. Wasn't down for too long though.

Yeah, the big problem now is that the floodgates have been opened to patenting all kinds of things that could never have been patented before. Since the USPTO seems to be incapable of using sources other than the existing patent database for prior art, there's all kinds of crazy patents. The other problem, being, of course that patent reviewers don't have enough education in the appropriate areas to recognize obvious patents. The infamous 1-click patent is a great example. You have parts A, B, C, and D, which all have already been done, you put them together in a trivial way to accomplishing 1-click shopping, and new patent. If you had asked any web programmer to come up with a design for a 1-click shopping app, any good programmer would have come up with a design in 15 minutes. And most of the designs would have looked very similar, because all of them would have used the kinds of technology that were available, parts A,B,C,D, etc. that I mentioned earlier. It's obvious to any programmer, but apparently not to whomever reviewed the patent.

I've experienced the first, you can get that one just from staring at the "dot" of a laser hiting a wall. I had a blurry spot in my vision one day in high school. If that's the case, then this study is a useless comparison between ethanol and oil. The useful study would be:

    vs.

how many gallons of gasoline does it take to produce one gallon of gasoline? (inc. discovery, drilling, pumping, shipping, refining, etc)

And even if ethanol compares favorably in this study, you would still have to look into how much land and labor it takes to produce ethanol. I don't imagine labor would be a problem, but land might be.
