I had played Half-Life 2 at a friend's house on his Steam account because I didn't even have broadband at the time and thus could not have paid for a played the game had I wanted. Of course, I didn't really want to, what with all of it's Orwellian copy protection. I wanted to try the game though, as it was nothing but hyped at the time. To be honest, I felt it was rather boring overall. It definitely lacked the sense of wonder that the first one did. Maybe the almost complete lack of alien enemies (or variety to the enemies and environments in general) caused this. I thought Portals looked a lot more interesting than any kind of episodic content (which is a rip-off, by the way). Prey was interesting enough;)
Because I'd love to carry it around in a backpack or something and never see morons at the store blabbing on their cellphones again. That would be great!
But not in a Programming firm, I'd imagine. My fiancé has to have her entire hand print scanned to clock in and out everyday. It's a long-term care facility though, so they take the stuff rather seriously. Of course, just because someone doesn't have a record certainly does not excuse them from being lazy, worthless, trouble-making employees like most of them are. I'd never submit to a drug test, let alone fingerprinting and blood work. But, a lot of people aren't as comfortable as I am with not being so deeply embedded within the rat race...
And hey, at least they do speak English - you know, the language that came from England - not the twisted atrocity of a language that Americans speak and call "English". I'd rather have an Indian answer my tech support call than an American, thank-you-very-much:-P All Americans have the most shocking accents, I can't understand a bloody word. What they speak doesn't even deserve to be called "English". To be fair, I wouldn't want to speak with a lot of Americans on the telephone either, seeing as they do have thick, hillbilly accents. Furthermore, there is the occasion when one comes upon the stereotypical "ghetto" accent which comes off as way too thick. However, a lot of the different dialects throughout England aren't even considered proper English.;)
I don't have anything against India or its citizens, but I do so hate having to call some place up with a problem only to struggle to communicate with some guy because; a) He probably doesn't speak English very well and can't truly understand a lot of what I say. b) Everything he knows comes from a script. c) His accent is so fucking thick that I can't understand a lot of what he says. I'd rather speak with a machine in most cases, so long as it's not voice activated...
Other than some of the extra computer controls and sensors[...] Which, in my experience, seem to be more problematic than anything. A lot of things which used to be manually controlled and calibrated are now electronically monitored. Some things for the better, but others unnecessarily. And when something of that nature does go wrong, you're usually out of luck unless you have a rather pricey diagnostic tool. Aside from such situations however, it seems that a lot of newer cars place things in difficult positions. I don't like having to take half of the engine apart just to change a spark plug.
The only sad thing is going to be our grandkids asking us what it means to drive "stick". Sounds like most kids already. I see one of the main disadvantages of hybrids (and just about every new generation of vehicles for the past several decades) as being just how complicated they are. They're almost impossible for the average person to work on, thus forcing consumers to pay outrageous repair fees. For that reason, I must confess to still driving around and polluted in late 70s car.
They weren't that great. It's just an example of some watered down console FPS pleasing all the buzzed frat-boys playing Xbox. They've never played any of those innovative (or even any of the older, must-tries) of the genre, so the stale animations, fuzzy textures, cliche story and annoying enemies just impressed them all so much.
Almost as ridiculous as mental illness being called "Satanic Possession", aye? All religion is a mass of delusional cultists. Don't be fooled by the age of one's dogma or how wide their net of influence is.
What confuses me is when they decided tricking the students was a good idea. Probably about the same time they thought tricking everyone about who "discovered" America was a good idea. School systems only exist in America to systematically mash students into molds. Conformity has always been the name of the game. Inciting a constant state of fear and promoting distress is just another means to that end.
As decent as the miniseries was, the full-on series incarnation was not very good. It was laughable at best, and downright annoying at worst. The original was better anyway, seeing as it was fun and campy. Realism and "grittiness" does not necessarily make for good stories. Still better than any of those Sci-Fi Original films at least!
The parent is flamebait, huh? Not quite. If people aren't willing to help themselves, they certainly aren't worth the time for others to help. The power of the ruling class(es) means little when the numbers are against them. And this regurgitated "they don't know any better" is such a lame cop out. They may not know the exact extent of their oppression but I'm sure that more than enough of them feel that they are being oppressed.
[Note: Ironic Sarcasm?]
The sound? I'm pretty sure Godzilla works that way as well ;)
Because the Ninja Turtles wasn't enough for Hollywood this year...

Then you'll be able to use your stylus-like fingernails, thus solving any such problems! :)

All that imaginary money and what-not... Silly, silly stock system.

...contacted. We know that the crystal in your palm has turned black, don't try to run Videogames!

Brilliant!
I'd rather have purple... Like Goro!
I'm already hating the ninety degree weather as summer picks up. I don't see why we have to ruin places like Canada by melting them...

ICQ numbers with goatees?
Generations Arena is the only reason I even still bother to install Quake 3 :P
Christianity and Islam should die? I second that! Can we add all of the other monotheistic cooks as well? :P
