The films have at least aged rather well. The effects and general cinematography don't feel all that dated. Of course, I tend to think that the sloppy CGI in the "special remastered" version is what looks old. Then again, I'm one to shun CGI in almost any instance, so biases persist.

It's another Colosseum like game, right? Where you don't actually do anything but upload your handheld critters and watch them fight in 3D. I guess XD did kind of have a small RPG storyline, but still nothing to warrent a purchase unless you already had the handheld games. I'd love to see a full featured Pokemon game on the Wii (you could still upload your critters, if you wanted!). Heck maybe even some quasi MMO, along the lines of the Dreamcast's Phantasy Star. *shrugs*

  10. No Online Wii Play? on Games, Movies, Comics Collide · · Score: 1

The Wii is capable... Or will be. Right? Mortal Kombat Armageddon committed such things as well (though getting Khameleon as a selectable character is definitely better than playing online, no doubt). Is Nintendo directly holding back online play by not setting up the system or are these third parties just hanging back and watching, waiting for Nintendo to release their own enabled games and set a good template?

A "gaming rig" very well may cost someone a lot more, because those people tend to think that they need a $400 video card. I've never spent more than $500 or $600 on any of the computer's I've built, excluding the monitor and software of course, and they usually play the latest games just fine (even though most of the latest games don't seem to be worth playing recently). They also last for years and when they do begin to age I can upgrade them, something that a lot of store-bought, onboard types don't allow you to do. I assume your rig was only up and running in less time because you were probably hunky dory with the pre-installed junk and didn't bother wiping everything out. The "Compaq" bios screen on my laptop annoys me enough, let alone the junk that came running on the desktop. It's easier to just start fresh and install everything you want than it is to uninstall the trash that you don't need. Now I can understand the support angle from the average user's perspective, even though I'd be terrified to see what those mouth-breathers at Best Buy call technical support. Besides, I was hardly "looking down" on anyone. I understand a lot of people are lazy or just don't realize that they can do it themselves (how many people go buy the components to put together other electronic equipment, right?).Still, I'd hardly call putting a computer together a "learning experience" as it requires next to no skill or knowledge nowadays. Parts are usually pretty well defined as to what they're work with and then outside of that it's just a matter of snapping it together. Heck, a lot of the stuff even comes color-coded today.

If it weren't for the awful texture on the analog stick and the "crab finger" syndrome that you get from the triggers after a night of Crazy Taxi. I was rather found of the Wavebird though, actually. The added weight and filled in areas made it feel a lot more comfortable than the vanilla Gamecube controller. Neither of the two controllers listed have rumble features either. Always a plus! :)

Aside from my very first PC and my laptop, I've built them all. It's cheaper and almost always more bang for your buck. Plus, you don't have to deal with reinstalling the OS once you get it, as it's blank. No craplets, no "DELL" bios loading screen... It's just better. I can understand businesses, because they typically get bulk discounts and don't really care about what's running down in the task bar :P

  17. That's Okay... on Holocaust Dropped From Some UK Schools · · Score: 1

Just the other day at work I overheard two colleagues talking at lunch. The one was rather agitated because the school was trying to "brainwash" her child by not teaching what her church taught; namely that humans and dinosaurs walked the earth together in the beginning of time. Yeah. She apparently attends the Church of St. Flintstone. Now, did the holocaust happen? More than likely, though it was and is probably a tad exaggerated, just like any defeated enemies' "horrors" will be.

The cartoon didn't fit the comic, in all fairness. The new cartoon(s) certainly don't even fit the old one in tone. If nothing else, the new film had a rather lackluster art style about it, while three other films had already done it very well as live action (and probably cheaper by today's standards). The original films (or, at least the first two) were of a much darker tone than the cartoon was anyway. *shrugs*
