Tor is a wonderful piece of software, but browsing with it can be somewhat slow at times. Mobile internet is also a great invention, but can be frustratingly slow. Thank heavens that no-one is proposing using these two technologies in combination!
Is there really any reason to be developing iPhone apps for a service like this rather than letting us all use it?
Yes - if this had been "just another NASA website", it wouldn't have garnered anywhere near as much press attention.
For some reason, creating something that only a tiny proportion of the population can see creates a far bigger buzz than creating something universal - providing, of course, the tiny proportion in question is "iPhone owners".
I don't see any validity in applying the formula to individual paragraphs.
If I were to say "The cat sat on the mat", this would score pretty low on the scale, but there is no better way to express the cat's location to you. If I were to go on to say "thus was my ailurophilia originally instantiated" this sentence would score considerably higher. However I don't see that this provides any evidence that I didn't write both sentences.
The aspect ratio of a 800 x 480 screen is about half-way between WUXGA (1920 x 1200) and full HD (1920 x 1080), which seems to be equally common on monitors these days. So 800 x 480 is hardly an unprecedented step.
In the spirit of bringing up the huge amount of prior art disproving the summary's assertion, I'd just like to mention the interactive fiction title Mobius.
I have a 120 GB drive in my netbook that is maybe half-full. How long would it take for YOU to search the entire drive and make sure it's "clean"?
Just over half an hour, assuming an average read speed of 30 Mb/s. The required processing power for the software to search for interesting key phrases would be negligible.
a small encrypted text file
If you have any encrypted files on your hard drive, you will be subject to further questioning. If you refuse to hand over your encryption key, you are obviously guilty and will be arrested and charged as a terrorist.
Thanks for the link. I see that the GPS system you mentioned is just a concept design. The pre-amplifier is indeed commercially available, at just under $10,000.
However, I did note that the Art Lebedev site has a variety of fridge magnets and a Tetris-themed ice cube tray for sale at fairly reasonable prices.:)
I freely admit my ignorance, I was judging the studio in question solely by the product you allude to, since I am entirely ignorant of their other work. Could you point me to some of their designs that have been realised in an affordable form?

According to an article on the BBC site, the Windows 7 upgrade procedure also advises that Open Office is uninstalled.

It seems that anyone under the age of 45 is trying to find out a way to blame someone else for decisions they made or didn't make.
There are many corporations way over the age of 45 that seem equally unwilling to take responsibility for their actions.
I find your ideas intriguing, and wish to subscribe to your evidence.
How long till I see one of these chasing me down a dark alley?
That depends on what you were planning, citizen.
EA have copyrighted 2010? I must getting cynical, that almost wouldn't surprise me.
30 years later, in the White House...
"Of course we should go to Iraq. Sun, sand, free cake, and of course the women - what could possibly go wrong?"
Sounds like an attempt to ride the Linux hype wave
There's a Linux hype wave? Woohoo! Someone break out the champagne!
I've never been frustrated by the fact that my computer doesn't require me to use all 20 fingers for input.
Me neither. Still, it would make pair programming a lot more popular.

Good writing is not merely words, it is also structure. Your supposedly improved essay demonstrates this principle admirably.
Any now you've wasted another 638 of my bytes storing the extra pixels in your bold text, you insensitive clod!
the penis-tentacled blob from heck and his army of japanese schoolgirl sex slaves.
Your ideas are intriguing to me and I wish to subscribe to your MMORPG.
So did I, for many years. Then one day I got pissed off at being addicted and kicked it, with no assistance (chemical or otherwise).
The most important thing is wanting to give up. If you don't want to, then don't bother. It's your choice, after all.
It's simple enough - there are so many Anonymous Cowards out there, they just send out a razor every day and it's bound to be one of your birthdays.
Everybody should get one. I'll keep my nuke in my living room and put a round glass top over it and use it as a coffee table.

Don't be ridiculous, a camel of that size would almost certainly create its own gravitational field.

No, he said his wife was hot.
(Sorry, just kidding, random internet dude whose wife I've just insulted!)

What they should do it farm out the UI to a design firm, something along the lines of Art Lebedev.
I agree, my main problem with Microsoft stuff is that it is far too cheap.
