I think new ways of teaching math like this are great. Having a math degree myself, I was recently asked to speak at a career day at a local school. The number one things the kids wanted to know is *why* they needed to learn math...
This book is a great step towards teaching/giving interest to a larger 'math-challenged' audience.
Besides, if it wasn't for math guys, we wouldn't have computers... >:) (Interestingly enough, Alan Turing killed himself with an APPLE. hehehe ok bad joke)-

It seems all of the childhood superheroes are starting to show that they are mortal...how sad for young kids today....back to the comic books I guess (at least there the only way they get back problems is if the writers or animators go on strike or something)~
Well, get used to it. Besides marketing filtering, governmental filtering, etc...we have very distored views/search results...
Remember using metacrawler, ask jeeves, etc? Google probably does some 'behind the routers' filtering of their own~
I'm not paranoid, and I know 1984 passed a long time ago; but the #1 motivating force in the universe, $$$, can do anything...why should filtering/controlling how one gets info on the web be above the power of $$$?

With as little the browser has changed, its amazing how much code-bloat there is in the new browsers of today (ok, not counting Opera, etc...)
Lots of the "improvements" (I use the term loosely) are in the form of supported formats/scripts, plugins, handling of international character sets, etc...
AND a ton of CRAP. BUT- just for fun, have you tried surfing using Lynx lately? It just doesn't fly anymore. Just like if you tried the original Mosaic, you'd lose quite a bit (or at least lots of pages would work).
But yeah, as far as design, and apparent usability to the user, the browser hasn't changed much.
