Nothing recently, but a while back (like a year ago) I used to work as a sort-of-tech-support person at one of Casio's NJ repair facilities. We used to receive/send most of our packages via UPS Ground... what a nightmare. :(

Damaged packages was an everyday thing. Lost packages averaged about two or three each week, and the worst was when we actually got empty (except for the whatever-you-call-those-bits-of-foam-used-for-pack ing) boxes that were supposed to contain keyboards (music), digital cameras, PDA, etc. I actually spent 25-35% of my week just trying to get UPS to do something about it. I got to know a few of the people who get the phone calls on their end just because we talked so much during the week. And the shitty part is that we had a business account with them (we shipped truckloads of stuff daily).

If we got such poor service while giving them that much of our business, just imagine what a single customer is likely to get.

    The kids are dead.
At least something good came from this (I'm refering to the two fucked up sons of bitches that did it (and when I say sons of bitches, I'm also refering to the fathers... some guys are bitches too)).
I can't really say for certain (not being a parent), but I imagine that the parents already a) feel like shit from this whole incident
As well they should, but that still doesn't change the fact that they screwed up in a major way and should be held accountable for it. What else would you see as an acceptable outcome? If they aren't held accountable, it just sends the wrong message to the rest of the country: "It's OK... whenever I fuck up, I can just say that I'm sorry and I feel real shitty because of it... no big deal."
and b) they've already lost their kids.
Remember, it's not like they deserved to be parents in the first place and, as I said above, they were fucked up little shits to begin with.

No amount of money will bring the victims back from the grave. Any lawsuit over this sort of thing is just profiteering. Fuck that.
Finally! Something we can agree on. :)

Once again, Red Hat is successfully creating brand recognition - it's not Linux that IBM is selling, it's Red Hat Linux.

It's appropriate that this is with IBM - another company that got big on selling its name, regardless of whether they provided any compelling technical advantage over their competitors.

Not to be rude or anything, but what's you're point?

So IBM goes with the RH brand instead of TurboLinux or something else... big deal. It's still Linux.

And don't give me any of that "Red Hat is not Linux!" crap. RH is Linux. It may not be the one you like, and it certainly isn't the only one, but who gives a shit if that's what the newbies think?

    • After they've used RH, they can switch to another one (assuming they feel they need to)
    • It's not like your favorite distribution is going to vanish over night because of this
    • People who prefer some other distribution will just use that instead of RH (assuming it's supported; and if it's not, show IBM that there are cu$tomer$ who want it so that it is supported)

Anyways, my point is, relax. There's no need to have a dick attack over it.
